I visited Long Jewelers on Battlefield Blvd in Chesapeake to replace watch batteries in five watches, repair a necklace, and have a few diamonds replaced in my wife’s ring. The customer service was outstanding from start to finish. I was in and out in about 30 minutes, with the exception of the diamond ring, which they will call me about once it’s ready. As a nice bonus, they also provided a free cleaning and polish on my diamond wedding band. The staff was professional, efficient, and genuinely attentive. Great experience all around — I’ll definitely be returning and would highly recommend them.
I’m so pleased with the work I had done at Longs. Queenie helped me choose a beautiful setting and they set my stone perfectly. I love the craftsmanship and service at Longs!
Learned I had a loose diamond ring, but was moving away so tucked it away. Went we returned for a visit I knew Long’s would be a trustworthy and reliable place to take it to be repaired. They finished it quickly and it’s gorgeous!
My husband bought me a very special ring from Ireland, and it was very delicate with emeralds. It had cracked in three places, and I had taken it to several jewelers who refused to repair it due to the emeralds not being good with heat. I brought it to Long jewelers and they fixed it within three days and it was perfect - highly recommend.
Short review: The staff at this jewelry store don't listen. They try to gaslight you. They are unprofessional and rude. They do sneaky things with your jewelry. We don't plan to purchase anything at Long Jewelers in the future. Detailed review: My husband and I have been in this jewelry store multiple times in the past 4 months, each visit having something to do with my engagement ring/wedding band. Visit one (late May/early June): My husband (fiancé at the time) and I went in to look at wedding bands that would match and fit next to my engagement ring that he purchased from this jewelry store. No progress was made during this first visit. Visit two (early/mid-June): We again went in to address the wedding band issue. We had to re-explain the wedding band dilemma all over again, as if we'd never been in before. We were told the staff would call the company that made my ring and get a wedding band custom-made. We were also told that the thickness of my engagement ring plus wedding band would keep my engagement ring from spinning on my finger (my finger was sized before the engagement ring was purchased/sized for my finger). Before the next visit to Long Jewelers, a staff member requested that we bring in my engagement ring so that measurements could be taken for making the custom ring, which we did. This didn't make sense to us as the specs for my engagement ring should have already been on file with the jewelry store and the company that made my engagement ring. Visit three (early July): We went in to pick up my custom-made wedding band. In the store, I immediately observed that the bands of my engagement ring and wedding band didn't match. (The spacing/depth of the diamonds on the bands and also how far down the diamonds were on the bands: one band also looks wider than the other band.) One of the staff members argued with me and told me they were the same. She said my engagement ring just needed its rhodium-plating redone and that the rings would then look the same. I asked why, after having the engagement ring for only 2 months, it would need new rhodium-plating already. She told me I wore it too much (!!). She said to get the rhodium-plating redone on the engagement ring the week of our wedding. Visit four (early August): After getting the rhodium-plating redone and seeing that the rings still didn't match, my husband took my rings back and the owner took the wedding band and came back with it a few minutes later. He said he modified the ring and when my husband asked what he did, he told my husband it was a "trade secret." He refused to give details and also told my husband that the company that made the ring wouldn't deal with customers directly, only jewelry stores, so we could not directly address the issues with the company itself. Needless to say, the rings still don't match. Visit five (mid-August): We went back to the store and explained our concerns again. A staff member agreed with us that the bands are different. I also showed her that the rings don't sit evenly on my finger. I showed her that both of the rings now spin on my fingers as well, rather than stay in place. She showed the rings to someone else and she then told us that if we place the wedding band on the other side of the engagement ring, the diamonds down the sides match!! We said that this didn't address the issues we described and that she acknowledged moments earlier. Shd then took the rings to another staff member and they discussed that the rings had a different "radius." She then came back to where we were sitting, and told us the rings simply needed to be soldered together. At this point, we left. I now have an engagement ring and wedding band that don't "fit" together or sit on my finger as they should, and that don't have the same looking bands. They spin anytime I move my hands. We have spent a lot of money (and time) on these rings and to have a custom-made ring with issues this business owner and his staff refuse to solve with integrity is quite upsetting.
