My son presented signs of dyslexia and was loosing confidence in reading and school. We began reading support with Marissa at Marmalade skies and with in a few visits light bulbs started going off. The hands on learning has made it fun for him. Also, Mrs. Tina has been a great support as well with her expertise in neurodivergent children. Thank you all for being such a blessing to work with on my sons education.
When I first took my son for an evaluation and received the results I was so disheartened. I felt his school had betrayed him and seriously misled me. Within a year at Marmalade Skies he went from a third grader with a pre k reading level to a fourth grader at a mid third grade reading level. This was achieved with an average of 2-3 sessions per week. My family and I continue to watch in amazement as Miss Tina and the Marmalade Skies team teach him the skills he needs while also building his confidence and fluency. His new teachers are thrilled with his progress and are blown away with his willingness to try regardless if he might make errors. Hearing that my son, who just 18 months ago cried every morning he had to go to school, is the first one to raise his hand to read aloud brings me to tears! I am so grateful I stumbled upon Miss Tina in the lobby of his vision therapist's office. She was there to drop off information about the center and in that moment my son's life changed forever! My 3rd Grade daughter is bright & motivated, but struggled to read. We had an assessment in the Fall and discovered she had dyslexia. Teacher Sara has been amazing and in the last 8 months, my daughter has come up THREE GRADE LEVELS! Her writing has substantially improved as well. So thrilled we found Marmalade Skies.
It is incredibly challenging to navigate the world once you find out your child has a disability. Miss Tina and her program truly helped me feel that my child was in trusted hands, which I needed. The program has really helped my child learn to read. Schools kept moving past my child's needs, but Marmalade Skies was familiar with children with similar challenges and truly catered to my child. I can't thank them enough.
