My daughter originally tried jiu-jitsu for about 6 months and stopped. Not gonna lie we were disappointed she didn't want to go anymore. We live in the area and would see Master Yang standing outside and she wanted to try. We made her wait a few months but she was insistent. We knew it would be good for her. So we enrolled her for a year program. Some key differences we noticed between the programs. Jiu-jitsu was a lot of running, cardio very little mat work. Taekwondo is almost all learning the moves. Jiu-jitsu didn't really talk much about confidence, respect, being good at home and school where at Taekwondo it's spoken about all the time. Watching the Masters at Taekwondo interact with the kids is funny and inspiring. I have a feeling next year my little will want to sign up for the black belt program. This is an excellent program for focus, confidence, respect, discipline and lots of fun!
My son is 9 years old and a student under Master Yang, and Master Su. I am extremely impressed by both Masters, so much so that I brought Conrads grandfather and uncle to come watch. Conrad has found great confidence in his new position with himself and his commitment to the Art of Taekwondo. If you are considering this for your children, I highly recommend Master Yang's Martial Arts. We are extremely satisfied with this choice.
I like the family atmosphere there. And they are very good at handling my three kids. They make it fun and exciting, as well as kind and caring. They always greet my kids at the door with a smile. And all three of my kids enjoy going there. They are in the black belt program and they are seven eight and nine. Which is a hard age for concentration; but they keep them engaged.
Offering classes for kids, adults and even the youngsters (ages 3-6), they have someone for everyone. I have my four and eight year old enrolled and it is one of the best decisions I have made for them. I am beyond impressed with the progress they have made and it has everything to do with how patient the masters are. They show care for each of the students that make sure they are making progress. Both my kids love it. I would recommend it to anyone looking to get their kids into anything physical and will continue recommending it to all my friends.
We absolutely love Master Yang! The instructors here are phenomenal – so incredibly skilled, but also patient and genuinely invested in each student's growth. They don't just teach Taekwondo, they teach respect and discipline in a way that truly resonates. What really stands out is the amazing community they've built; it feels like a second family where everyone supports each other. Our daughter has not only developed incredible Taekwondo skills but has also learned so much about responsibility, both in and out of the studio, thanks to the values emphasized here. Highly, highly recommend!
