Val and her staff are exceptional--and the Mathnasium approach to developing mastery is awesome! My 11 year old skipped 4th grade math because he needed the challenge, but has been struggling in odd-ball places ever since due to some of the foundational concepts he missed. He likes math but resents extra school work, so I wasn't sure what to expect but our experience has been awesome! The curriculum is well-rounded and thorough without being overwhelming, and really cements those foundational concepts that can make forward momentum difficult. That said, the real gem is the staff. Val and her staff worked together seamlessly to ensure my son's time was spent targeted to fill his specific gaps, while holding him accountable for what he did not. This created a degree of ownership and buy-in from him that we've been missing for a long time. Equally important have been the staff who do an amazing job creating comradery with and between the kids. Our son quickly developed positive, supportive relationships with the other kids and established a tight bond with a couple of staff in particular. Its these relationships--together with being able to see and concretely understand and track mastery moving forward--is what keeps him motivated to come back and keep working. A huge THANK YOU to Val and her wonderful staff!

Our daughter started at the Federal Way Mathnasium just over a year ago. Before, she had lower self-esteem when it came to math and fell behind a bit due to COVID when she was in Kindergarten. When she started at Mathnasium, there was NEVER a day when she didn't want to go. It was always a positive experience and she was enthusiastic about going in, seeing teachers and progressing. Now over a year later, her final report card came home with a note from the teacher saying "math is one of her greatest academic strengths..." and she continues to love this center. Val and the Federal Way Mathnasium team has created such a fantastic environment where kids can thrive learning math skills and find a little community. Highly recommend this particular center and the Mathnasium team!
