This review is about the Pro Shop customer service experience, not the entire climbing gym. I bought a harness late at night and went home without trying it on. I wasn’t given a receipt or informed of a “final sale/no returns” policy, but I trusted that the shop would offer reasonable customer service for a gym member. The next day, I discovered it was too small and went back to exchange it. I was told, “We can’t return or exchange harnesses for safety reasons.” I was then given a gmail address to contact someone “who has the final say,” but the email turned out to be invalid, so I had to call again. I explained I was never informed of a “no returns” policy, yet they insisted I should resell it myself and it’s “common sense” that safety equipment like harnesses can’t be returned or exchanged. This is really frustrating and I don't understand why they think it "safe" to have harness rental, but "unsafe" to exchange a brand new harness with all the tags and labels on within 24 hours of purchase. As a beginner, I didn’t know this “common sense.” I guess, as the name suggests, you really have to be a Pro to shop at the Pro Shop. Update: the manager reached out and allowed a return. I just wished this didn’t take 5 days.
Really fun gym but frustrating experience when trying to cancel. They made me jump through all sorts of hoops to cancel- I have to download an app login, figure out my login credentials. I am not allowed to cancel over the phone- much easier to sign up than it is to cancel
I’ve been here for ten minutes and it’s already 100% better than my last gym, Grotto. More terrain, better setting, and shockingly the day pass is less expensive. I’ll be coming here more often. Saw a couple ex-grotto members here too upon walking in. It seems like the place to be if you’re not an ego manic v10-hyper-bro. Oh yeah, it’s air conditioned too. Edit: can confirm, it’s way better than grotto in every conceivable way. Don’t waste your time there, just come here and enjoy climbing!
I really like this climbing gym. It's fun to climb here. The routes are pretty clean since they are reset often, and they have a separate section for climbing slab which I really appreciate. That's my favorite type of bouldering! Prices are steep, but worth it for what you get. Full size gym with squat rack, pull up/dip bar with assist, and rings. They also offer yoga classes and have a sauna.
We had a great experience so I had to share. Daddy/Daughter date night so I took my two young girls ( 7 and 10 ). None of us are very experienced. I've been to this gym but it's been a few years so I was rusty. The entire front desk staff was really helpful. They helped us get our waivers filled out and then did a very useful re-orientation with us on the harness knot and new bolle devices. They made sure we were all comfortable and doing our safety checks right and then turned us loose. We climbed for two hours and had a blast. Without the helpful staff at the front desk we would have been lost or discouraged. So good job Mesa Rim team! And we will be back. Both of my girls are stoked and ready to get a membership now. Thank you!
