I had an antique chair that has been in my family for decades re-upholstered by Joel Talbert at Michael Talbert Upholstery. Joel was very professional and polite in each interaction we had regarding my chair. He was timely in his responses to my inquiries, as well as getting my chair back to me within the discussed time frame. He did a beautiful upholstery job that far exceeded my expectations. I was very impressed with the workmanship. It was a wonderful experience all the way around. I will definitely recommend him to my friends and family for future work on upholstery projects they have.

BUYER BEWARE - I rarely write reviews but I wish others had warned me. I needed a bench cushion made, met with Joel to select the fabric and get an estimate. He verified with the supplier that the fabric was in stock and he told me it would take 8-10 weeks to complete. He asked for 50% down but only accepted cash or checks so I came back back a second time to pay. He called two days later saying the cost of the fabric would be double because there was a minimum order amount and "he was not about to get stuck with the rest". The fabric was already quite expensive ($ 336 for 1.5 yrd) so I could not justify spending over $ 600 for the fabric alone. I went back a third time to select another fabric without a minimum order requirement. After 10 weeks and not hearing from him, I reached out to check on the timeline. I left two messages and finally received a call back a week later. He was very defensive, saying that he had been on vacation for a week, and stating that he would not have promised 8-10 weeks and that I was obviously confused. I asked if two more weeks were reasonable to get the cushion, he rudely said there was no way for him to know as all his products are custom made. As a last insult, when it was finally ready, he would not accept anything smaller than $20 bills for the remaining balance of $113 because "he would not know what to do with a bunch of ones and fives". Wow! And that's his level of customer service. At first, I thought he was just having a bad day but he seemed to have his fair share of bad days. Lucky for him he has a wonderful man working for him who expressed his empathy when I later went back with $20 bills. Needless to say, there are a number of other upholstery businesses in town that I would choose going there.
