10/10! Today was my first time here,Im visiting from LA and wanted to try a popular food spot in Oakland. I was a little skeptical about coming on Christmas day,but surprisingly the wait wasnt bad. The servers were great & attentive. My family and I ordered about 7/8 dishes to try & we loved most of them. I would definitely go back to try other items on their menu!
Famous dimsum place at Oakland Chinatown. It was very crowded. We waited about 30 minutes to get table. The restaurant is not that big. From outside it seem itvis rundown restaurant but inside was ok. I like the white lighting like the photo I saw at yelp butnow they changed the light to yellow. It looks a bit darker. Please don't mind if they ask you to share table with other customers. The dimsum menu is similar to other restaurants which serve dimsum. Please make sure you order all at once. If not your second round of order will take a while to arrive. Our servers spoke English well which is better than other restaurants. Now about the food. All are very yummy and surprisingly very reasonable price. The claypot was yummy The dimsum is cheaper than most of dimsum restaurant we ever visited. If you like dimsum and around Chinatown, you should give it a try. You can park on the street or at the plaza.
Pretty good dim sum items! Good prices! Service was good! The dim sum items arrived hit and fresh on our table to enjoy! The servers were excellent in their customer service skills. It is located in the center of Oakland Chinatown; therefore, parking is tight at the area paid lots. When in the Chinatown area, this is a good place to fulfill a desire for a good dim sum meal at a reasonable price.
Came here for a friend's birthday party of four because we knew we could get down with the dim sum. To be honest, I don't know everything we ordered because a friend frequents here a few times a month, so she did all the ordering, but I do know some things we had. We had the turnip cake, pan-fried pork bun, deep-fried tofu skin wrap with shrimp, baked barbecue pork bun, crispy spring rolls, thousand fried shrimp balls, pea sprout dumpling with shrimp, steamed shrimp dumpling (har gow), rice noodle roll with beef and cilantro, choy sum with oyster sauce, and Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. We also had rice noodle rolls with shrimp and tea as much as you want. I'm missing a few things here, but you get the drift, we stuffed our faces. Our bill came out to $112 for all these items, and we duplicated some orders. It's not a fancy place by any means, but they pay attention to when you have empty dishes and pick them up really quickly. They also notice when your tea is empty and refill it promptly. The service is fast and efficient. I'll definitely come back here and grab more items.
After walking by this restaurant several times while I am in Oakland Chinatown, I finally stopped in on a Tuesday late afternoon to have linner. Upon perusing the menu, I decided to have their shrimp dumplings (har gow), pan fried turnip cake, a bowl of chicken conjee and an order of doughnut sticks. Wow! What I ordered was delicious. I enjoyed what I ate The shrimp dumplings were better than the ones I usually buy from another pastry shop. The shrimp was plump and the texture of the dough was perfect. Oh my! The pan fried turnip cake was tasty and the texture was a smooth melt in your mouth one. The weather was on the cool side. The chicken congee and doughnut stick were total comfort food ant it warmed my tummy. To wash down the food, I had the chrysanthemum tea. Return visits: Definitely yes. I am eager to go back for more dim sum pastries and the chicken with black mushroom in clay pot. Tip: best time to dine there is on weekdays. Weekends this restaurant is packed with patrons waiting in line outside.
