We had Russ and his team design and plant our yard this summer. After losing our ash trees last year we had a blank canvas. We also needed help with an overgrown area in our front yard. Finally, we wanted to convert our yard to a bee friendly lawn. Russ put together a beautiful design that included planting a bank of native shrubs and trees that will give us great privacy, transplanting the plants in our front yard to a new sun garden in back. and replanting with native plants that would attract bees and birds. We had no idea where to start. With Russ's expertise, design skills, and attention to detail we are well on our way to all of our goals. We were thrilled with the amount of bumblebees and butterflies we attracted in only a few months. The lawn is 30% clover so far...and no more poison anywhere. Native landscaping in back and front and side of house as well as some new trees and shrubs. Also, they seeded with bee lawn seed mix in areas that were mulched every year... now we have a "living mulch." We are absolutely thrilled with our new landscaping! Our yard is now full of butterflies, bees and hummingbirds. Our neighbors all comment on how beautiful it all looks. Not much to maintain, and it takes up much of the yard, so smaller lawn to mow. And best of all, Russ is always willing to answer any questions we have.
We are delighted with the work the good people of Minnehaha Falls Landscaping did for us. It was great working with people whose focus is on creating sustainable habitats. They disassembled old raised bed gardens and built new ones. This involved saving many of the plants we had in the old beds and adding new ones. While it will be spring before we see the results, it all looks well planned and well planted. Great compost, good plants from them, attractive new beds built. The space that will no longer be in garden beds was prepared well and planted as a bee lawn. The staff was easy and enjoyable to have--very friendly and polite. Working with Russ and Brian was great. They answered our questions and recommended things when we needed help. We are happy with our new yard and highly recommend this company.
We are long time customers of Minnehaha Falls Landscaping. As I sit on my porch watching the monarch butterflies enjoying my pollinator garden I appreciate the service we’ve had over the years. It started with their snow removal service as we decided doing it ourselves was too much. Next up were the pollinator gardens and replacing our lawn with no mow bee gardens. This year we added garden maintenance to the mix so gardening is not a chore but is enjoyable. We recommend them very highly.
The Grand Condominiums Landscape Committee in St Louis Park has been working with Russ Henry at Minnehaha Falls Landscaping since September 2023 as our owner’s association wanted to learn about a sustainable approach to our grounds that would be easier to maintain while improving the exterior curb appeal. We have been challenged for years with maintaining turf next to our sidewalks that are annually smothered in salt. Russ gave us a great education on healthy soil and how by eliminating the turf/grass, enriching our soil, and planting hearty ground cover varieties, we would not only eliminate the need for our mowing contract, but could reduce water use and eliminate use of fertilizers. Russ and his team kept in contact during the process so we knew when and what was happening. Every member of his crew was polite and respectful while working diligently. They cleaned up from their work daily. Our results are unbelievable – beautiful and sustainable. We have received many positive comments from our residents and will let the pictures of our butterfly garden, courtyard, and front entry speak for all of us. For multi-family (or single family) residential properties that want to reduce use of chemicals and lower maintenance, we highly recommend Minnehaha Falls Landscaping.
