DISAPPOINTING REPONSE EDIT DECEMBER 8-2025 Thank you for your response. I would like to clarify a few important points, as your reply does not accurately reflect my experience. First, the only “alternative” offered to us was theory or composition lessons, which is not equivalent to the clarinet instruction we originally contracted for. My daughter was switched to a different instrument at school, and Morin does not offer lessons for that new instrument. Expecting us to continue paying for lessons in an instrument she would no longer be studying—simply to fulfill a policy—does not feel like a reasonable or meaningful accommodation. Second, the tone of your reply comes across as unnecessarily aggressive, especially given the context. At no point did I demand a “unique policy”; I simply asked for consideration given the change of circumstances and the lack of a qualified teacher for the instrument my daughter was reassigned to. I reached out in good faith on September 5th and was told the situation would be looked into. Hearing nothing for 5 weeks reasonably led me to believe that some flexibility or discussion was possible. Only after I followed up again was I informed that nothing could be done. Finally, it is deeply disappointing that my daughter’s previously positive experience with Morin has been overshadowed by the way this situation was handled. A child should not be left feeling responsible or at fault because appropriate instruction for her new instrument was not available. . I stand by my original comments and hope that Morin reflects on how situations like this can be handled with more transparency, empathy, and clearer communication in the future. Worst experience ever. My daughter was chosen and offered to switch instruments at the begining of school after recieving band memeber of the year last year. Morin doesn't have a music teacher that teaches her new instrument. I was reminded of the 8 week cancellation policy(which by the way you have to confirm in May for September for the lessons) that i would have to pay for lessons for an instrument that my daugheter no longer was going to play. I sent an email on Sept 5th regarding the circumstances and was told that they would look into it and get back to me. This led me to believe that some sort of consideration would be taken into account. After not hearing back, I had to email on Sept 28th to follow up and then today October 8th I was told sorry they didn't fill the spot and I still have to pay until Oct 29th. Never communicated that the spot needed to be filled for me not to have to pay 8 weeks, only offer was maybe my daughter would like to learn theory or composition, which is different from what our contract was for. Waited 5 weeks to tell me that I will still have to pay. I can't tell you how disappointing this whole experience has been. My young daughter is upset that we have to pay money and feels like it is her fault because she changed instruments. Morin took a really positive opportunity for my daughter and turned it into a really negative experience. No accomodation or consideration for a child that was excited for a new opportunity.
Both of my sons have been taking piano lessons from Dan Morin for over seven years, and I can confidently say he is an exceptional teacher who cares deeply about his students’ growth and well-being. What sets Dan apart is his ability to truly understand each student as an individual. He’s a keen observer who recognizes that every child learns differently. He thoughtfully adapts his teaching style to suit each student's needs and often finds creative ways to connect their outside interests to piano, making learning more engaging and meaningful. Dan’s patience and support create a positive and encouraging environment. He knows how to build confidence and gently motivate his students to push themselves and grow. His years of experience are evident—he has a remarkable ability to assess what a student is capable of achieving. More than once, he has introduced music I thought was too difficult, only for my children to master it by year’s end and perform it confidently during recitals or competitions. Dan also brings humor and warmth into his lessons, which makes learning enjoyable. Both of my kids genuinely look forward to their time with him. He doesn’t pressure them, but instead sets clear expectations, and they consistently rise to meet them. Perhaps most importantly, he instills a deep and lasting love for music in all of his students. I wholeheartedly recommend Dan Morin to anyone looking for a dedicated, skilled, and inspiring piano teacher.
This marks the third year since my daughter began piano lessons with Mr. Dan after we moved to the city. Mr. Dan is not just an exceptional piano teacher—he is a mentor who imparts life lessons with wisdom, shaping the children’s futures in ways far beyond music. Over the past two years, my daughter has made tremendous progress, even winning first place at the provincials! None of this would have been possible without Mr. Dan and the Morin Studio. A special thanks also to Carmen and Robyn for creating such magic in the world of music!
Morin Music Studio offer great and wide range of music lessons from group classes to private lesson. Both of my children started their music journey with an early childhood program at the age of 2. After the exposure of rhythm and melody, they moved to formal lesson with a private teacher. The studio hosts 2 recitals at the Scarboro United Church every school year which offer students a moment to reflect on their growth, see the result of their hard work, and help prepare their exams or competitions. I have nothing but good things to say about Morin Music Studio. :)

Inspiring musical journeys with personalized, expert instruction for all ages and skill levels.
