My car was towed without my consent around 10:30 PM from a Safeway parking lot while I was just shopping for groceries. They held it for 3 hours and charged me $600 completely uncalled for! Ridiculous, stressful, and completely unfair. Avoid this company at all costs!
Unsafe and Distracted Towing Truck Driver — Serious Road Hazard I had a very concerning experience with one of Morris and sons towing truck driver. While operating a large tow truck, the driver was chatting with a coworker standing outside on the side walk instead of keeping his eyes on the road and paying attention to traffic. This kind of behavior is extremely dangerous — a tow truck is heavy, slow to stop, and requires constant focus. Instead of ensuring safety, the driver was distracted and looking away from the road, I also stopped my car far enough for him to give him space to maneuver. When I tried to point this out his mistake, the driver didn’t take responsibility and instead argued, showing no concern for safety or accountability. According to the California DMV, drivers are legally required to keep their eyes on the road and attention on driving at all times. Under California Vehicle Code §23103 (Reckless Driving) and §23123–23123.5 (Distracted Driving Laws), taking your eyes off the road — whether to talk to someone outside the vehicle or for any other reason — is considered unsafe and potentially illegal. RECKLESS DRIVING. This kind of negligence is unacceptable, especially for someone operating a heavy tow truck that can cause serious damage. I hope the company takes immediate action to retrain its drivers on basic safety and California law. Until then, I can’t recommend this towing service — SAFETY SHOULD ALWAYS COME FIRST.
I was illegally towed from a lot that still have two open businesses in the lot. I was at the bar (that was still open) when I was towed. The only signs said no airport or overnight parking. It was 11:15pm. Not even past midnight. I was treated with so much disrespect and charged $510 to get my vehicle back even thought it was only stolen by them for about an hour and a half. The person who finally returned my stolen property to me was beyond rude and would not let my fiancé come back to get the vehicle from the lot with me (as a solo female in an area I’m not from at 3am this was incredibly uncomfortable) and treated my friend (who was illegally towed at the same time) the same way. I’m beyond appalled anyone could call this a business. It was theft and extortion.
Absolutely unacceptable behavior from this towing company. I witnessed one of their drivers patrolling around looking for cars to tow — not responding to a call, but actively hunting for vehicles. This happened while I was having breakfast at Redwood Place and Market in Sunnyvale. An Amazon Flex driver had his car towed by Morris & Sons even though no one from the property had called it in — I personally confirmed this with the property management. The driver had only parked briefly in a red zone to make a delivery, and there are no designated parking spots for delivery drivers in that area. Is Morris & Sons going to start towing UPS or FedEx trucks next just for doing their jobs? This kind of opportunistic towing is predatory and unethical. Taking advantage of hardworking people just trying to make a living is disgraceful. Do better, Morris & Sons. The community deserves fair and honest business practices — not this kind of exploitation.
On the morning of February 27, 2025 on the safeway of Payne Av and Winchester a driver of the plates 66313N3 insulted me and recorded me just for observing how he took a car in a daring way mistrying it and taking it from a private property !! Just so that people then have to go to that tow company to pay the approximate sum of $500 dollars he threatened me and insulted me several times taking pictures of my person and my vehicle threatening me that he would take it if he saw it parked anywhere !!! This company is a business and hurts many people, they shouldn't use it at all!
