So grateful we found Mountain Skills Rock Guides. We were scheduled with Thomas who did a phenomenal job at challenging our rock-crazy son while still keeping it accessible for my husband and I. Our son walked away with new skills after having a great day on the rock. We had climbed in the area the two days prior to climbing with Thomas, and Thomas was well known by the other local climbers we ran into. His knowledge of the area was clearly displayed as he led our family through a great day.

My 17 year old Owen had an amazing time climbing with Jake in Calico Basin at Red Rocks! Owen is on the climbing team in Santa Fe and is very experienced in top rope and bouldering in a gym setting - this was his first real outdoor single pitch experience. Jake started him on a V8 and they methodically worked up to a V12 with top notch instruction for each of the climbs. Mountain Skills Guides are the best in the business in terms of safety, skill, and professionalism - and just really, REALLY good people.

Climbing with Jake, up to and including our first multi-pitch, was a total joy. He was incredibly knowledgeable and a great teacher besides being a chill guy and a pleasure to hang out and climb with. Not to mention, he offered us plenty of tips and beta even after our two days of guiding were up. The whole experience with Mountain Skills was great from stem to stern, I highly recommend them.

Climbing with Thomas was great! He's a super capable and competent guide, but really a great guy to climb with who is much more like a good friend who is happy to make sure you have a great day, and that it will be fun. For our outing it was hot, and on my second day of climbing my feet were killing me, so Thomas was able to mend together, on the spot, 10 pitches of climbing across three different routes to make for a chill day of 5.6/5.7 climbing up high, and in the shade, that we could do in approach shoes. It saved the day, and we ended up having an awesome full day out in the mountains climbing enjoyable mountain terrain in a beautiful landscape. It doesn't get any better. Go climb with Thomas. You'll have a great time.

Had an amazing time climbing in Red Rock with Thomas. Donna at the office made it easy to coordinate and even helped me move the date when our flights were changed. As a climber with only 6 months experience bouldering (all inside) and very limited top rope experience I was a bit nervous that I may have bitten off more than I could chew. However, Thomas was exceptionally easy going whilst remaining professional and I constantly felt safe under his guidance. He helped me push my own limits whilst keeping the entire experience enjoyable. I ended the day a far more confident rock climber than I started. He even showed us some pictographs/petroglyphs in the Canyon. Thanks again Donna and Thomas.
