I live in Los Angeles, where Mexican food is everywhere and much closer to Mexico… but honestly, the authentic Mexican flavor I felt here at Mr. Chamo is on another level. The quesabirrias and the tripa tacos are amazing, full of real Mexican taste. If you’re looking for true Mexican cuisine in Quebec, this is the place!

The ambiance of the place was lovely, with thoughtful decor, though it felt overly dark and would benefit from better lighting and some music to create a livelier atmosphere. The highlight was the owner’s kindness, who generously offered traditional Mexican candies, and the attentive staff, who provided excellent service. The tacos de birria and the torta de carne al pastor had a good taste but lacked a wow factor. The tacos could benefit from additional toppings beyond the standard lemon and onions—cilantro was notably absent. Similarly, the torta was overly simple, consisting only of bread, cheese, and meat; it could be elevated with a more diverse range of ingredients.
