Just reviewing the whiskey (atypical customer). Small but well-curated whiskey selection with friendly staff at a lively spot with wine tastings going on when I visited. There is a small shelf of whiskey here with a more interesting selection than at many larger stores. It was stuff I wanted to try: unusual whiskies from Japan (Kanosuke and Ichiro 111), interesting ASM (Redwood Empire Foggy Burl), scotch (Compass Box Crimson Casks), and rye (Epoch, Redwood Empire, and a Detroit 100% rye called Catchers that I'd never seen before). For such a tiny whisky shop - one hidden inside a wine shop - this is a hidden gem. Almost more like visiting somebody's liquor cabinet, you realize that it's not always necessary to have a warehouse to choose from if the buyer has a good eye. Prices are marked up a little bit but not overly so for such a small local shop. Update: I opened the Catchers Rye and it is a highly unusual but delicious and very compelling 100% rye with complex layers of molasses and quicksilver, thank you to Mt Washington Wine & Spirits for this discovery!

This is hands down my favorite wine shop. Looking for a great wine? Go here. Looking for a mediocre wine, go somewhere else; they don't have it here. Everyone here is fantastic. Looking to chill? Just sit and have a glass or two of wine or a beer and chat. If I could give them 6 stars, I would.

Weird small spirits selection with brands you’ve never heard of. No normal, like, vodka. I went in looking for applejack brandy for a dish they’d never heard of it. Oh and if you like cider forget it. They haven’t got it. (Now I sound like someone crazed for apples. I am not. I’m just saying it’s a weird place.) Maybe they’re not a liquor store or beer store just a wine store? Dunno. It’s weird and imo expensive.
