Anniversary Lunch at Musaafer – A Thoughtful Michelin-Star Experience We chose Musaafer for our 3rd wedding anniversary lunch, and it turned out to be a memorable and well-executed fine-dining experience that truly reflects why the restaurant holds Michelin recognition. From the outset, the service stood out—warm, attentive, and genuinely celebratory. The staff acknowledged our anniversary with a signed card and a complimentary rosé, a thoughtful gesture that immediately elevated the experience beyond just the food. Our server Arina took care of all of our needs very well and helped us have the best experience. Food & Beverage: We ordered à la carte and were impressed by both flavor depth and presentation. Appetizers: Mithu’s Coriander Shrimp was bright, aromatic, and delicately balanced, while the Lamb Chaanp was tender, well-spiced, and expertly cooked—an excellent start to the meal. Main Courses: The Laal Maas delivered authentic heat and complexity without overwhelming the palate, staying true to its Rajasthani roots while still feeling refined. The Butter Chicken Experience lived up to its name—rich, indulgent, and elevated well beyond the usual restaurant rendition. Desserts: Mishti Doi offered a subtle, comforting sweetness, and Gulaab provided a modern, elegant take on a familiar classic—both well-paced finishes to a heavy main course. Drinks: The Mango Colada and Chatpata Mango Cooler were refreshing, playful, and thoughtfully paired with the food, offering a nice contrast to the bold spices. Overall Impression: Musaafer succeeds not just in presenting high-quality Indian cuisine, but in curating an experience—from ambiance and service to pacing and presentation. The attention to detail, especially on a special occasion, made the visit feel personal and intentional. This is not everyday dining, but for celebrations or for those interested in modern Indian fine dining done right, Musaafer is absolutely worth the visit. Would gladly return—and confidently recommend.
We had a recent dining experience at Musaafer with a party of 12. While the ambiance of the restaurant is astounding, the overall experience did not live up to the expectations of a Michelin-starred establishment. Unfortunately, the service was subpar throughout the evening. It took over two hours for our entrees to arrive, and when they did, much of the food was lukewarm. Additionally, the servers mixed up the orders, resulting in most of our guests receiving the wrong plates. During the meal, my foot—which was tucked under the table and already injured—was stepped on by servers three different times. Regarding the food, we found several dishes to be disappointing. The butter chicken used dark meat without providing a white meat option, and both the lamb chops and the biryani were quite bland and dry, lacking the rich spices we expected. Furthermore, we were surprised by the $4 per slice fee to cut a birthday cake we brought ourselves, especially given the amount our group spent on appetizers, entrees, drinks and tips. For many of our guests, this was their first visit, and it left a poor impression. I've had much better Indian food, for far less! I'm not sure not sure of the standard for food quality, when it comes to the judges of these Michelin star votes. Secret food connoisseurs need to go in and give real reviews. I will say the manager adjusted the bill and took of the issues I had.
One of the greatest and most unique restaurants in Houston! The inside transports you to another world. The food is incredible beyond comparison, and the drinks are a perfect complement. We did the tasting menu, and it was one of the most amazing experiences I've had in a dinner. Absolutely delicious and memorable! Our server JP was so fun and shared the background of each course. We got a tour of the restaurant after our meal, and it's unbelievable the detail and unique feel of each room. This is a great place to go for special occasions!
We had an amazing dinner at Musaafer. The restaurant is beautiful with detailed spaces. We dined in the temple and loved its golden highlights, velvet seats, subtle lighting and colorful mosaics. We ordered a lot of the recommended dishes and they did not disappoint. The modern takes, deep flavors, unique designs, and plating were rich and stunning. One of the best highlights of the event was our amazing server Sagiv who explained dishes, told stories about their inspirations and creations, and wonderful customer service and friendliness. He even got us an off menu cup of ‘milk’ and it was delicate and heartwarming and surprising all at once - loved it. We were disappointed there wasn’t an extra line to add additional on top of the mandatory gratuity, because we definitely would have. Sagiv and the food and atmosphere were all fantastic. Next time we make the 5-hour trip to Houston, we’ll be driving right back to Musaafer for our first night.
We had a fantastic birthday lunch here. The decor gives the vibes of some of the beautiful forts in India. The staff is understated but gracious and courteous. They are very helpful, give great recs, and are just the right amount of attentive. Overall, I think the biggest strength of the food is the layers of flavor they are able to achieve. The paneer we had was one of the best curries we had. The ceviches were unique and delicious. The one dish that really took the cake in presentation and flavor was the mishti doi. I love mishti doi and I have never had one that was as unique, delicious and playfully plated as this version. We didn't take a picture because we were too busy eating. And then, they brought out non alcoholic sparkling wine for a birthday toast and added a candle to the dessert. Shout out to Amrina for singing with us. It was an awesome end to the meal. We would 100% like to return.
