I came to Neil as a self taught guitarist with some skill but little confidence. From the first lesson Neil opened me up to theory which up until that point seriously confused me and made me feel slightly uneasy. In 4 or 5 lessons through patience and reassurance he mixed the playing with a teaching plan that made me see and understand theory in any piece of music or song or chord progression. His method of teaching is super personalised to you and his knowledge of music is so diverse. His own passion for wanting to understand your interest in music and help you reach your goals shined through in every lesson for me. My progress in 6-7 months has transformed my guitar playing and knowledge of music to the point where I can experiment and write music with confidence and understand how to play to literally any genre of music I’m interested in. The guy is a genius and a great person who really cares about helping his students, I couldn’t recommend him enough!

I contacted Neil after starting to try and teach myself how to play the bass guitar after making the decision to finish work. With no music experience and having never attempted to play an instrument before, I have found Neil to be an excellent teacher whom always seems have just what you need to keep you moving forward and making progress. As a former teacher I'm not sure how he does it, but its great, I guess with his experience he can adapt things on the fly so to speak. Neils passion for all styles of music radiates from him and I dont think I could have found a more enthusiastic and capable teacher. The lessons are always interesting and challenging. You leave the lesson feeling like you have made progress and yet still have some serious practice to get on with. Having been one of Neil's students for a while now, I've found my confidence has grown significantly and I'm really "getting into it". I'm looking forward to continuing my musical adventure with Music Lessons Liverpool.

Some heavy topics Neil will use experiences he has had to make dense subject matter into easier, more manageable lessons to help students learn and understand. I have been learning music theory with Neil in great detail and I never walk away from a lesson confused or unsure of the topic we have been through. Neil genuinely wants to help students learn and grow, not just walk away with the textbook definition of subjects but with actual uses of how to apply these skills to your musical compositions. You can tell how much Neil loves music and it shows in the way he teaches, being passionate to talk about subjects and seeing you grow as a musician. I would highly recommend Neil as a music teacher to anyone and everyone if you want not just a high quality music learning experience but also to have fun while doing it!

I have learned several instruments with Neil, mostly classical guitar (passing all my grade exams with Distinction and now on Grade 5). He has also taught my son to the same level. I would highly recommend Music Lessons Liverpool after many years as Neil somehow always gets the best out of us. His knowledge is second to none too!! If there more stars (8, 9, 10 etc.) I'd give them all!
