They are responsive by text, and the turn-around repair time for my simple problem on my Yamaha keyboard (a stuck key) was just one day. At least one other shop quoted a 4 week wait, and yet another shop didn't respond to my initial inquiry for two days. Drop off and pick-up of my keyboard was simple and no-fuss.
I was very impressed with the quality and turnaround time for my keyboard repair. A week before I was playing at a wedding, my keyboard wouldn't turn on, so I wrote to the manufacturer (Korg) and they recommended this company in San Jose. It was an hour drive for me and when I dropped it off, I asked if I could wait so I wouldn't have to come back another day. The repair was completed within an hour, he showed me it worked before requesting payment, and I was on my way all in the same day. Great service!
I'm sorry to say it, but the repair shop owner is pretty dishonest and kinda rude. After some miscommunication, my unit got returned in worse condition, with dust and scum everywhere, scratched, and some authentic parts had been replaced by knockoffs. He quoted me a price I knew was very off because even I could find the parts for way less than he claimed he could find them. When I came to pick up the unit I asked about the worse condition, and he got upset and defensive. Communication throughout the diagnostic process wasn't that great either. Since I wasn't willing to deal with this anymore, I took my unit and left. I really had hoped there was someone local with a small shop that I could trust, and it seems like others have had a better experience than me, but I won't be returning
I have been going to this man since 1993, and he has never steered me wrong! I remember when he was located in the back of a pro audio store. From then on, I have brought everything from home audio, to pro audio to this man, and he has properly repaired it every time. The fact that he is factory authorized to repair a lot of audio products makes me feel at ease.
I chose this place because it's listed on Yamaha's site as an official service center. The guy knows his stuff - heard him talking with other customers while I waited. He'll even recommend against fixing something if it costs too much compared to the equipment value. That's a good guy looking out for his customer. I needed my guitar amp fixed and turnaround time was 1 week for my case. I'm happy with his worksmanship, highly recommended, would return if I need any fixing (and that's 1+ hr drive for me too).
