If you are sick to death of dieticians telling you to eat 1200 calories. If you are looking for someone who actually cares about your overall well being and not just the number on the scale this group is the best I have encountered! Angela is the 4th dietician I have seen over the last 8 ish years. Until I found her I was losing teeth, losing hair, exhausted grumpy and then I started gaining weight again. When I started with her I was SO unhappy. But I am so glad I stuck it out. She has the best advice, she met me with where I was, and helped me get my health actually in control. And now that my health is so much improved we are beginning to work on weight loss because I would like to lose some weight. You won’t find a more supportive, no nonsense, cheerleader anywhere! 💜
My nutritionist, Rachel, has gone above and beyond for me. She worked with where I was at in my relationship with food, and encouraged me to make small changes. These smaller changes have snowballed in to a lifestyle change. I can see the progress made when I try new foods, or meal prep for the week. I couldn’t have done this without her! 💜
My Nutrition Studio and RD Jenny Hagendorf has been a life saver. She has provided me with customized advice on my complex special dietary needs...high protein, vegetarian, low-carb, diabetes Type 1.5. I appreciate the simple tips and one-page handouts that I can easily incorporate into my diet. I am maintaining a great A1c and feel healthier, too. The Practice Better App they provide is convenient to use and keeps me on track. I have attended their webinars on healthy and easy meals and have definitely rolled those recipes into my repertoire. I truly believe an experienced RD in your overall health plan is essential and for everyone. My Nutrition Studio is a great place to start!
We were blessed to find Amber to support our family after we were home with our son that was born at 26 weeks. He had difficulty eating and we struggled to help him get enough from his bottles and formula to help him gain weight and get the nutrients he needed for his brain and body to develop. We were in a spiral of fear, anxiety, and frustration. Amber made me feel confident that as a mama I was doing everything I possibly could to help my son. She gave us different options to try with him that ultimately helped us continue to keep him on a good growth curve. She was also huge in helping us transition him from formula to solids. The app that she uses makes it easy to quickly connect with her and ask follow up questions. I am thankful that she has been part of our son's medical team.
Amber Oberlin has been a godsend. That's it, that's the review. No, but in all seriousness, I had gastric bypass surgery in 2013, and after losing so much, I ended up gaining the weight back - over 100lbs back. After getting married in 2019, my husband and I decided to look into having kids. Unfortunately, I need fertility treatment. In order for that treatment to be successful, I need to lose weight. That's when I decided to see a nutritionist. The first one I was assigned tried to use the normal methods of losing weight, (like all the other doctors and trainers before her) even after I told her that I was a gastric bypass patient. I was upset at myself for doing everything right, and still not losing, and feeling like a failure. She ended up leaving, and I was assigned Amber. To say that Amber made me feel better about myself and situation isn't enough. She has a great and welcoming attitude. I felt like she knew her stuff; she knew about people like me who gained weight after successfully losing weight with the surgery. She knew about the pre-surgery information, she KNEW. But most of all, I felt heard. She treats me like a PERSON and not just a client. That first consultation, I kid you not, I wanted to cry happy tears. With her help and encouragement, I have begun to lose weight again in a healthy way, and my goal of starting fertility treatment is no longer a dream, but becoming a reality. tl;dr: highly recommend, and especially recommend Amber Oberlin for gastric bypass/gastric sleeve patients. She's awesome.
