We were travelling around Adelaide (Jan 2026) and were wanting to view the botanic gardens. It was 47 degrees that day and being in a wheelchair I wanted to park as close to the buildings as I could. I found disabled parking in the shade next to the National Wine Centre, technically reserved for their clients. We went into the gardens and as we came out we decided to go into the wine centre for a coffee. What a pleasant surprise! The wine centre staff were great I had coffee and cake and decided to have an explore. There is a massive disabled ramp up the middle of the Centre which is easy to push up. There plaques to read about wine all the way up the ramp. On reaching the top there is a display room where there are videos, examples of types of grapes, you can sniff/smell wine of different types in an “aerator”. The history of wine making. I think the $25 tour would be well worth the money. The rooms upstairs had displays of labels. I was really pleasantly surprised to find a real gem. The only gripe. It was the end of the day and I asked about using the disabled toilet, which was very clean. When I came out the back doors and the gate to the disabled bays were locked I had to push around the block to get to the toilets. All in all though a surprise which I would definitely go back to again and do the tour. Seems a great venue for weddings and was a wonderful respite from the heat.
Lovely & modern venue. Impressive. Also, A venue with conference rooms, wine cellar, small art gallery with lovely artwork of flowers and natives. A cafe with friendly staff and well made cappuccinos served by a friendly guy.
I visited Adelaide Botanic Garden yesterday and passed-by this National Wine Centre of Australia (NWC). This is a great facility. With a cafe, wine tasting facility and function rooms and big event hall etc. There were several wedding ceremonies held on the lawns of Adelaide Botanic Garden yesterday, I wondered one of the group would probably come to this beautiful big event hall to have a wedding banquet. I didn't stay long in this NWC yesterday. I would definitely do a formal visit next time and will try their cafe and wine tasting facility.
