This bookstore encourages you to leave your shose by the door, has seating pillows spread across the floors, and creaks like a ship of old wood and memories. Their author and speaker’s series are amazing. We attended the La Ku'oko'a celebration of Diplomacy, Unity, and Self-Determination on November 28 - honoring the 1843 recognition of the Hawaiian Kingdom by several Western Nations. Poet Laureate for Hawaii Kealoha shared his powerful personal history on how he turned from a safe corporate job in California to a poet and spoken word artist. Mahalo.

I love the selection of books by Native and Local writers/artist. I was impressed with the variety of genres: history, food, culture, politics, literature, and memoirs. I especially enjoyed browsing the children's book section. The crew there were also so friendly.
