As a student of the New Music School for the past 10 years, I can say with complete honesty that this place has been one of the most transformative parts of my musical journey. From my first cello lesson to my final pre-college performances, New Music School has provided an environment filled with inspiration, challenge, and deep community. What makes this school truly exceptional is how much it offers beyond just lessons. I’ve had the privilege of studying music theory, playing in chamber music groups, performing in regular recitals, and participating in masterclasses with some of the world’s finest musicians. These experiences helped me grow as a performer and taught me how to collaborate, listen, and express myself through music in ways I never imagined possible. The sense of community here is something special. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to connect with passionate and talented musicians, many of whom have become lifelong friends. The faculty’s dedication and belief in each student’s potential set this school apart. New Music School isn’t just a place to learn, it’s a place to thrive, to be inspired, and to find your voice. Signed up for guitar lessons just for fun and ended up loving it way more than I thought. The instructor made everything simple and didn’t pressure me to be perfect. He broke songs down step by step and showed me how to actually enjoy playing instead of just practicing scales. The lessons were casual but I still learned a lot every week. I liked that he let me pick songs I wanted to learn too. Only downside was the schedule was a little tight so I had to pick a less ideal time but that’s just cause he’s popular. The studio was clean and chill and never felt intimidating. I can now play a few songs all the way through which feels awesome. If you ever wanted to play but felt too shy this is the kind of place that makes it easy. Highly recommend it.

I've always had a fantastic experience with the New Music School of Chicago! I've known the director since 2011 and their commitment to excellence is unsurpassed in Chicagoland. The instructors are not only highly skilled and knowledgeable but also genuinely passionate about teaching. They tailor lessons to fit individual goals, whether you're a beginner or an advanced student. The staff is friendly and professional, and the facilities are modern and well-maintained. Highly recommend to anyone serious about learning music in a supportive and inspiring environment!

Our family has been extremely happy with the Music Together program at NMS. The teacher, Ms. Frances, delights infants to toddlers with the joy of music. Her ability to be playful and witty with Music Together tunes makes each class time exceptionally fun and extends to independent play at home. Music Together with Ms. Frances has been one of the primary highlights of our little one’s week and highly recommend it! We carefully decided on this class over many others in the area because the MT curriculum is high quality and well thought out, which is important for planting the seeds for learning. We rate it five outstanding stars, from our family to yours.
