I give it a one or two due to how far bad there it is. So very quiet but almost too much so. Looked forward to showing up listening to a speaker for it was 30min-1hr, have some meditative time and say goodbye. When i walked up to the main area there was no one around. after 15+ mins a lady came up to me i said here for a speaker today. She said wait for a group to finish. they did and walked in and not a single person looked at me or spoke to me and that was it the whole time i was there. Also never did i see anything about a speaker starting at 1030am while it was already after 1120am at the time. i sat in with them for the rest of the time i was there. still not one hi im jack from anyone. by 1245pm i needed to leave still no speaker so i had to get up and walk to my car. Still without a hello. Been to a lot of different centers this was the weirdest.

Teshin Sensei (The Abbott) is an amazing Teacher, and Mentor. A beautiful space, with fantastic energy; kitchen, living quarters, library and Zendo Hall. There are services and meditations during week that can be attended physically or digitally.
The NC Zen Center is a wonderful place for a group retreat, personal retreat, or a daily visit. I visited for 7 nights from Colorado and thoroughly enjoyed my time. I stayed in a dorm room to myself, followed their weekly meditation schedule, used the kitchen as desired, and met with Teshin Sensei for a long chat. There is a creek that runs along the property, a hiking trail, and it's not far to Pittsboro for groceries and restaurants. Close by, there is a tiger sanctuary, the Haw River State Natural Preserve, and Jordan Lake. The Ashboro Zoo is not too far away either. The sangha was warm and welcoming.
