Awesome store! Owners were awesome! Worth my whole trip and just to come to SF Ocean Aquarium is worth it! The owner cares more about helping and having everyone succeed unlike others just trying to sell you fish and equipment you don’t need! Thanks!

My new favorite freshwater fish store in the bay area! So knowledgeable and such unique fish. They only sell fish that are appropriately sized for the majority of people's tanks, which makes this place ethically sound. The use of deep substrate beds for harboring anaerobic bacteria is a unique and natural way to manage water quality. Well done! And congrats on making it 40 years! Well deserved!

This store is old school cool! The owners are very welcoming and knowledgeable. All of the fish looked healthy and happy. I think this is the first fish shop where I didn't see a sick or dead betta, and that includes other specialty shops that have the betta walls with the drip systems. The heavily planted mom-and-pop style tanks probably won't appeal to minimalist Amano-style aquascapers, but they're really impressive and you can tell the fish love being there. This store is packed with all sorts of interesting things. This is a destination fish store if you are looking for a wide selection of betta or guppies.

I wanted to make it into this place for years, and I finally have an opportunity today! What an astonishingly kind store owner, an incredibly unique selection of tanks. You can tell just browsing the glass that the plants in these aquariums are thriving on a level that is unparalleled on the other Aquarium store. And so funky!
