I am so impressed with the fast, quality service. We had a gas leak in our basement (after hours) and needed someone urgently. I called 12 other companies who had no availability for, sometimes, up to 3 days (!!!). When I called Onyx, within 10 seconds I was being told "we will be there in an hour" (and they were!). John was efficient, thorough, and made sure everything was perfect before leaving. I could tell he truly cares about his business and making sure the work is done well. I wish I would have called them first! I will be recommending Onyx to everyone and will absolutely be using them again.

Two stars. I had frozen pipes in a rental unit during a cold snap on a Saturday night into Sunday morning, leaving the unit without running water. I called Onyx because I needed someone out that day Sunday afternoon). I specifically asked if there would be any significant weekend surcharge and was told it would be $259 for the weekend service call, with normal pricing otherwise. After assessing the issue, the technician said two spot plumbing repairs were needed, priced at $550 each. For work he estimated would take less than an hour, the total was already around $1,300. That equates to well over $1,000 per hour, despite already paying a weekend service fee. When I questioned it, I was told they don’t charge by the hour and that inflation has driven prices up, and this was their standard rate. I went ahead because the situation was urgent, but very much felt I was being taken advantage of. As the job progressed, additional issues were identified, bringing the total to four spot repairs. My final bill for the single Sunday afternoon visit was just over $2,000. While I did receive a partial discount on the third and fourth repairs, the overall cost still felt very excessive. The technician was friendly and the work was completed professionally. However, paying over $2,000 for roughly four hours of work by one technician, for relatively quick spot repairs, feels unreasonable and like I was being taken advantage of in a vulnerable situation. The lack of transparency around true pricing is why I’m leaving a two-star review, and would prefer not to use again. Editing to respond: Based on the response, it seems to confirm that the statement “besides the weekend service charge, normal pricing will apply” was not true. Further, I’m fully aware as additional issues were identified it would require further cost. To others out there, I would say that this company does professional work, but appears to be priced towards the more expensive end of the range, which is something to be aware of. Further, the fact that of 100+ reviews, all but previously 1, and now 2 are 5 stars is highly suspicious, that somehow they’re disposing of negative reviews. No company in this industry has customers who are that happy with their service. The lack of a range of review scores (even if most customers are very happy) should be met with significant skepticism.

Great fast quick service. They were able to fit me in the same day for a gas leak that got tagged by the gas company. Trenton did a great job and he’s also a super nice guy who’s eager to help! Thanks Onyx!

John & his team were great! A gas leak was detected at my rental property and they were on site within hours. The work required was extensive but their crew got it done in less than 2 days. John was readily accessible at virtually any time of day or night. Highly recommend. I would use them again.

I can’t say enough good things about Trenton and Onyx Plumbing & Gas. From start to finish, the experience was outstanding. Trenton was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to clearly explain what needed to be done and why. He showed up on time, worked efficiently, and made sure everything was cleaned up perfectly afterward. What stood out the most was his attention to detail and genuine care—he didn’t just do the job, he went above and beyond to make sure it was done right and that I felt comfortable with the work. It’s rare to find someone this reliable and trustworthy in the trades, and I feel confident knowing my home is in good hands.
