Can I please give Open Door Studios 100 stars? This is such a special, warm, welcoming, and accepting dance studio. Exactly the encouraging, creative, and supportive environment every child should have the opportunity to be a part of! Thank you to Ms. Jacque, Mr. Jesse, Ms. Jesse, Ms. Carolina, and Ms. Kim for being some of the best human beings and kind hearts this world needs! We love it here and appreciate the incredible hardwork, time, love and dedication that goes into every class, show, and performance! xoxo

A lot of dance schools have one adult ballet class and it meets once a week. It's a non-descript level that they just call Adult Ballet. One of the BEST things about Open Door is that they have a full adult program of dance. It includes lots of dance styles of almost every genre. And within those dance styles there are often various levels so that the dancer - yes, even the ADULT DANCER - can take the class that is most aligned for where they currently are in their dance journey. Nowhere is this more noticeable and more appreciated than in the offerings Open Door has for ballet - the dance style that has historically had the most gatekeeping. There's foundational classes for those who are brand new to the art form. There's a beginner level which is oftentimes taught in combination with early intermediate. And then there's the intermediate/advanced level, which is also appropriate for the professional dancer. So no matter how long you've been doing ballet you can get the exact right class FOR YOU multiple times a week! There are literally 10 different regularly scheduled adult ballet classes every single week, including pointe! Name me another studio in Charlotte that offers that. Name me another studio outside of New York or L.A. that offers that. I'll wait...

Open Door has been a second home to our family…my daughter has taken class here for 12 years and I have even started taking classes as an adult student. The staff is incredible and so supportive, whether you are a creative movement student, a pre-professional or a recreational dancer. They meet you where you are, whoever you are. Truly an open and welcoming place to dance.

You cannot find a better dance studio than Open Doors. I take the adult ballet drop-in classes. Each of the teachers is excellent. The classes are incredibly well attended. Like me, many adult students take multiple times a week, and have been taking multiple years. There is no judgement at Open Doors. Everyone works at their own level, and each student is celebrated. It is a wonderful place to reconnect with your love of dance, or to embark on a new journey as a beginner. Adult classes are offered across multiple types of dance and skill levels.

I’ve been taking classes at Open Door Studios for over 10 years. Many of the people taking classes at ODS have also been there for a very long time. Some leave for various reasons but always come back. That’s because it’s a very special place. You feel welcomed, not judged, accepted, you find community, you make friends. And then of course there is the dancing. The faculty includes very experienced, excellent teachers and dancers, who really see you and know how to help you to become your very best. They know what it takes, the discipline, the hard work, but they also know how to keep it light. During my years at ODS I went through some very difficult times, and that’s where I found refuge, in the dance, with my people.
