Luckily I got a free spot before leaving the country! Baki’s reputation is well deserved: he immediately had ideas and incorporated mine. I hope I can get another one soon. Had a great time at Oyabun!
Phangs worked with me on my sleeve and was considerate of all my requests!! I came from out of town and she was very accommodating to my schedule. We met in person to talk about everything and continued communication via email. The first two sessions were stenciling the arm and the remaining sessions will be used for shading and coloring. Thank you so much Phangs!
I just got home from my first session with Phangs! She did an beautiful job designing my traditional japanese sleeve based on our consultation. She knocked out all the major linework in one session and was so pleasant and easy to sit with. I am obsessed with how it looks and can't wait for my next session ❤️
My wife was getting a tattoo first and I ended up chatting more with Phangs. We spoke about a rough design and what I wanted. She came up with a design and colors that I fell in love with. I thought it was going to be a challenge since it was a coverup, but I trusted in her imagination and talent 100%. I LOVE how my tattoo turned out. Myself, wife, sister in law AND brother in law all get our tattoo from Phangs. She’s a nice, pleasant, very easy to talk to person and an amazing artist. The facility is beautiful and welcoming. I look forward to working on our next project
Phangs was my artist of choice and let me tell you, she might be my go to person for future artwork because she did PHENOMENAL on my Sesshomaru homage. I was specifically looking for an artist who did cover up tattoos for some bats I got during college. Phangs took my ideas down, let me know what to expect, and was so awesome at responding back to my emails in detail and walking me through the process at Oyabun. I live about 1.5 - 2 hours away from where the shop is located (I personally do not mind traveling for an artist whose style and work I love) so I highly appreciated Phangs working with me virtually to jot down my ideas and getting me booked. She accepts payment via cash, Venmo, and PayPal and requires a $100.00 deposit to secure a session. I'm not sure if this applies to all tattoos or only larger pieces, but the awesome thing is the deposit is paid towards your tattoo price. ☺️ This was my first time going to Oyabun and I loved the chill atmosphere. I can tell when I talk to people if they're going to give off positive vibes and Phangs definitely does! She showed me what the piece she created for me looked like and was soooooo open to tweaking elements to fit my body and vision. I've been to tattoo shops where the artist feels like they are judging you or makes you feel like you're wasting their time if you want them to edit something in their artwork. I usually prefer to give artists a sketch of my vision and then give them free range to do as they please; Phangs took what I poorly drew, made it perfect in her own way, and did not give me any feeling of being offended when I asked if I could see variations of certain elements being moved. I completely appreciated how comfortable she made me feel as well as how laid back her personality is. My session took 3.5 hours long and to be honest, I was not at all anxious to be finished or worried about time. Phangs talked to me about similar interests like anime and tv shows and it honestly felt like I was having a chill conversation with a friend to pass the time. I am not sure if the shop is usually open and empty feeling normally, but I personally loved the fact that there was no overstimulated activity like people walking around everywhere or obnoxiously loud conversations. It was totally relaxing to hang out, talk with Phangs, read my book occasionally, and just straight out chill. 👌🏼 My Sesshomaru cover-up came out beautifully and I could tell that Phangs paid attention to every detail down to how it would look on my arm at a relaxed position. If I could give her and Oyabun a 10/5 rating I totally would. She went above and beyond and I believe her pricing for her time and attention to detail was worth every penny. I want to thank Phangs again so so so much for being a wonderful tattoo artist and also just an overall awesome person!! I will definitely be coming back to Oyabun for my Mikasa tattoo next!!! (***Please note in my photos that I was informed that with the piece I wanted the bats would still peek through. This does not bother me at all as the bats have no negative experiences tied to them. I like to think of them as a cute college experience covered by a more mature me. ☺️ I am more than positive that for anyone looking to do a complete cover-up it is definitely doable!!!***)
