I've been to the art galleries here a few times now, and it's always super cool. They rotate the art every couple of weeks, so it's always something fresh and new! I definitely recommend visiting this place!

We visited the downtown arts center which is a great public space. It is owned and operated by the city and allows for local artists to have space to sell items on commission and there is no admission fee. Upstairs it has a children's gallery that features local children's artwork from the public school system. The downtown art center is also on the gallery hop and is currently renovating space to allow for more visitors and more exhibit space. We definitely recommend stopping by if you are looking for a relaxing quiet space to reflect and see local artists. Follow us for more great reviews™

PMDAC is a great venue in the heart of downtown Lexington. The most recent show I saw was Pangaea, a dual exhibition between local queer artists Patrick Smith and Robert Morgan. It's a sweet space -- not too big, not too small -- with big beautiful windows that let in fantastic light. Really brought the best out of Morgan's sculptures. I also loved how the show was curated with salon style collections of Smith's paintings. The staff are friendly. The snacks are delicious. And they have a selection of local artists' and craftsmans' art pieces available for purchase and very affordable prices. A super approachable art space.
