Just look at Gunners face for an honest opinion! The owner sent a photo and a couple videos of him having the best time on his first day. A thoughtful gesture that put my mind at ease. Every visit since has been just as great. The staff genuinely love the dogs and treat them like their own. It's easy to book online to book a space. Great place!
We have used Paws Unleashed for daycare and boarding the past few months, most recently a 15 night boarding stay for our dog Amigo. We looked around other kennels and found the owner, staff and facilities the best fit for Amigo. The owner Lisa; she took the time to answer my questions and concerns over email in detail putting any worries and other things I didnt think about to rest. She is extremely knowledgeable and takes care of the dogs onsite like its her own. She keeps her facilities very clean, and is proactive in ensuring your dogs health while there. While we were away, she updated us with videos and messages of our Amigo, truly making us feel at easy being miles away. The Staff; I dont know many names there but everytime I have been they are all friendly, they work hard to keep the facilities clean, and treat the pets well and are interactive with them. Carly took the time to update me on Amigo when Lisa was busy. They are all great though. Facilities; they section off areas and have a great system to let the dogs interact with one another based on size and temperment ( which shows they take the time to understand your dog and place him/her in the right setting). They have a secured fenced area for outdoor playtime, one of my worries was Amigo escaping but after speaking with Lisa and seeing the facilities there isnt a way for a dog to escape. A lot of dog day cares keep pets separated all day, confined and given a walk or an hour of playtime solo, At Paws they promote interacting. Amigo has socialized with other dogs and people there which has been great for her, teaches a dog how to be a dog. Price point is on par, there is cheaper. But you get what you pay for.. looking at the cheaper places reviews tells a lot. Nothing bad to say about this place, will continue to bring Amigo, its her happy place.. comes home exhausted and always excited to go back.
I recently adopted a rescue dog with a few behavioural difficulties, and have had a couple of training sessions with Carly from Paws Unleashed. She has been extremely helpful, provided great tips and exercises to strengthen and improve the relationship between myself and my new pooch while establishing rules and boundaries. She also has been very helpful in answering my many questions over email, which I am very thankful for. I would highly recommend her training services, she clearly loves dogs and knows how to work with them in a positive way.
My puppy has been improving so much going to Paws unleashed. They’re very attentive to his needs and he’s learning his manners much quicker than what we were able to accomplish at home. Carly has been helping us with in home training and the differences we saw after one visit was incredible. Lisa has been very caring and you can tell the staff all care about what they are doing. Often the staff share videos of my dog playing just to show his behaviour improvements etc
March 17th: We brought our dog to Paws Unleashed Winnipeg Ltd. for a half-day care and a nail trim. He seemed fine when we picked him up but later that night we noticed he wouldn’t bear weight on his left front leg. The next day he was completely limping. I checked his paw and I saw that the nail was lifted from the quick. The quick was swollen and dark red. He wouldn’t even let me touch it. March 19th AM: I called paws unleashed to notify them that my dog’s nail had been cut too short. Lisa was the one I spoke with. I told her my concerns, that my dog was limping and was in pain. I also mentioned that the nail was lifted from the quick. She said she does not know what I was talking abt and cannot picture what I was saying. I was understanding, calm and polite during our phone call because the last thing I want is to cause trouble. However, she kept interrupting me as I was explaining and kept asking me to repeat myself. So I finally said “my dog’s nail is damaged”. She was very condescending throughout the call and proceeded to blame my dog. She said, verbatim: “Okay, is it possible that he had his nails cut and hit it while running around on the concrete?” Well of course he runs around, but this had never happened before—and it started right after that nail trim. She told me she was going to talk to the groomer and will give me a call. Which she never did. We brought our dog to the vet later that evening. He had an xray done and it confirmed that the same nail mentioned above was inflamed. The vet said it was likely due to the nail being cut too short and the quick had been exposed. My dog was on antibiotics and pain meds for 10 days. I emailed Lisa about it and sent her the xray and bill as proof that I was not making it up. Bc why would I? March 23rd (her final email) : She did apologize but ONLY for the fact that I misunderstood that she would call me back right away. She claimed she was waiting for me to send a photo she of my dog’s nail. She never even ONCE asked if my dog was okay or even showed empathy that one of their “clients” was hurt and in pain. March 24th: I emailed back and demanded for compensation due to the inconvenience and emergency trip to the vet. No response after this email at all. April 8th: I called paws unleashed to follow up with my email. When I mentioned my name, she said promptly “Ah! Yes, I’m so sorry I have been in and out these past few weeks.” She also assured me that she will send me an etransfer for the compensation within the week. She even asked whether I prefer email or phone number. I said it doesn’t matter. Fast forward to April 22nd: I haven’t heard from her in 2 weeks so I followed up through email. No response. May 5th: I called Paws Unleashed. I was told Lisa was not in and will return the next day, May 6th @6am. May 6th: called at 8am. I was told Lisa will be back at 9am. Called back at around 9:10am, no answer. Left a voicemail requesting for a call back or a response through email. May 7th: No calls or email received. I was patient, respectful, and clear in my communications. Instead, I’ve been met with avoidance, blame, and silence. I’m standing up for my dog—because he deserves better, and so do others who trust this business with their pets.
