Very enjoyable workshop. Tara is a nice person, easy to talk to, informative and encouraging. This workshop will definitely get you to go out there and start using your camera and not be so bowled over by all the buttons and gadgets available on a modern device. The thing I especially liked, having something of a film background, is that the workshop enabled me to think of using my camera like a film camera first and foremost. Which I think is what I needed to get over that feeling of overwhelm holding a digital camera. Highly recommend for anyone who is interested in getting into making pictures.

Tara went with me through the Fundamentals in Photography course. She gave me some solid basic rules to practice, and even more importantly, she really motivated me to keep practicing. She also offered ongoing assistance going forward. Highly recommended.

Terrific one on one experience! Extremely helpful, well worth the time and cost. I plan on continuing to take these one on one sessions.

I had a great one on one session with Tara recently, which she generously offered after I missed the Advanced Fundamentals class I had signed up for. Unsurprisingly she knows her stuff, from camera features to composition and exposure and broader artistic philosophies, but more importantly she has the ability to meet students where they are, orienting the course around their interests, questions and challenges. I recommend sending a link to your online portfolio if you have one. In my case, before our session, Tara looked through the ~60 or so photos I had put up on my website. The conversation we had about my photos was maybe the most valuable part of our session. Tara offered very encouraging and thoughtful feedback - it was really cool when she liked one of my photos that I think most people would swipe left on. She took the time to explain what details of my photos she liked, which was interesting and helpful as she frequently picked up on things I hadn't even noticed, and also what didn't work, or could be improved on. This portfolio "review" contained some great practical advice that I think will permanently shape my photographic process from composition and exposure to editing. Finally, Tara sent a detailed email the day after our session, outlining the specifics of everything we'd talked about and providing more pointers on areas for me to pay attention to and develop going forward. This was super helpful as the notes I took were more sparse and incomplete. She even encouraged me to send more photos for her to comment on along with other questions about gear or technical issues. I definitely plan on working with Tara again in the future!

I haven’t picked up my camera in about 5 years and have forgotten a lot! This class was a great reminder of why I love photography. The intro class was interesting, informative, well paced and Tara is so easy to learn from. As we walked around taking pics she was open and friendly, answering all our questions. Clearly she is an expert and knows so much. The studio is warm, cozy and comfortable. I will be going back to learn more! Great re-entry point for me.

I had a great time with this class! I am a learner for fun and so I'm getting into photography was quite intimidating. I normally watch YouTube videos to try to get a sense of a new activity or discipline. I did so with photography, but I still had a lot of questions in this class answered so many of them. For beginner or a restarter. I think this is a great great class that everyone will enjoy!
