This was my first time in this city & going to this event made the experience very special. The djs were soooo goood. The food was also very good & the vibes were as well. If I ever visit again I’ll try my best to go.
Went for Bayo (presented by Michael Brun), one of the coolest event in the Haitian musical industry. Vibes were immaculate, the sound was bit weird hence the 4 stars but I had a blast.
Piknic Electronik combines the chill vibes of relaxing in the outdoors with the excitement & fun of a music festival (depending on which part of the site you're in) almost every Sunday from May to October. There are two stages; the more intimate Banque Nationale stage surrounded by stairs that double as seats, and the Fizz stage with its huge dancefloor (partly a wooden platform, partly on the ground) interspersed with tall, lit up trees. The VIP Piknic Terrasse is located to the right of the Fizz stage. This mini-fest is located right next to the Calder statue, Trois Disques, also known as "Man". The site overlooks the river on one side with La Grand Roue and the Cirque du Soleil tented arena in the background which makes for a lovely backdrop, particularly at sunset. Farther from the stages there's a section of trees where they hung up lights, with hammocks & picnic tables to get off your feet and relax. There are food trucks sprinkled all over the main site, with a lot of the typical fast food but also a couple healthier options including veggie options. You're also allowed to bring your own food, just check the website for the exact rules. Lots of different bars at each of the two stages as well as in the main site towards the center of everything. Like most Piknic-ers the bucket drinks are my favourite; they're the best bang for your buck in terms of alcohol & amount, and they have the more creative cocktails. Of course they also have ready to drink cocktails in cans, beer (Sapporo), and non-alcoholic options. Cards only for payments. Water is available at water fountains on site so bring an empty reusable water bottle. The buckets and cups the cocktails come in are reusable for the entire rest of the season, but if you're finished with it you can return it and get refunded 4$ for buckets and 2$ for cups. I've kept a few buckets over the years! There's so much to love about this fest, I could go on and on! It's a great way to spend a Sunday.
I’ve been a season pass holder at Piknic Électronik for several years and have had countless amazing experiences, so much so that I’ve rarely felt the need to write a review. However, after this season, I wanted to share some honest feedback in the hope it reaches the right people and helps improve things. This year, my wife and I decided not to get season passes and instead attend select events, including the Black Coffee show, which we were really excited for and had invested in financially. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Despite changing spots a few times, the sound quality was consistently poor, not just in volume but clarity as well. There was a noticeable echo in the space, which made it hard to enjoy the music. It felt like the setup wasn’t designed with sound in mind. It seems like a lot of investment went into the two big screens at the booth, but the trade-off was a layout that felt overcrowded and disconnected from what makes Piknic so special: the view of the Montréal skyline. The charm and atmosphere were completely lost. It also seemed like the sound system wasn’t scaled properly for the new layout both in terms of speaker quantity and placement. I truly hope future editions prioritize sound and crowd experience over flashy visuals or squeezing in more people. Even without screens or major production, an amazing sound experience in a beautiful setting is what made Piknic memorable in the first place. While my experience this year would rate closer to 1–2 stars, I’m giving 3 stars out of respect for all the great memories from past seasons.
I love this place, the energy is amazing! The music is invigorating and I love that everyone is dancing and having a good time. The Djs are great can't wait to go back!
