Our family is so grateful for the doctors and staff at Pinion Vet Hospital. We’ve taken our dogs there for years, and they have always gone above and beyond for us. Even with a full schedule, they consistently made time to call, check in, and walk us through our dog’s health concerns so we never felt alone or unheard. Today, when we had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye, they found a way to fit us in at the end of an already long day. Their compassion, patience, and dedication gave our sweet girl a peaceful passing and gave us comfort in one of the hardest moments of our lives. We are deeply thankful for the care they provided, not just today, but every step of the way.
I am so disappointed in Pinion. I brought my 11 YO lab in about a month ago - just for her annual exam. Walked in the wait room and it was packed. I signed in. I was 5 min early. I waited 45 min to be seen by a tech who was so incompetent. My dog has a mass on her back and he said, "just watch it". Waited another 15 min for the vet. No sorry for the wait - 5 min and she was done. In the wait room, waiting another 10 min to just check out, a dog came in and pooped at the front door. I told the receptionist and she put her hand up as to say . . . don't want to hear it. Then, someone else walked in with a cane and stepped right into it. Unbelievable. Came back yesterday for my new golden retriever puppy. Sitting next to another customer, she says "well, I guess I'm in for another long wait and her hamster just need a simple nail trim. I was a little early again in hopes that I could get in sooner but again over 30 min wait to be seen. While the tech was curteous, I did tell her about my disappointment with wait times. Then the vet came in and didn't say sorry and she owns the place. Then, another 15 min to check out. Again, I'm with a puppy that is wiggling and biting me . . . I have been hearing from so many pet owners this place has gone downhill . . . and I see it first hand. Here's the good part; When I complained to the receptionist about the wait times and that I was considering moving vets, she simply said, "we can send your pets records". By the way, they auto generate their response to these reviews. They do not care.
I think my dog has BUGS now from the lobby. Worst veteran in Reno period! Bait and switch on fees. Watched 4 people that came after me go first. Front staff rude and incompetent. Front staff blasting angry heavy metal music, multiple pitbulls in there. If you want to kill your dog with a common routine procedure this is the place, for more complicated surgery I would not recommend from what I saw. If your on methamphetamine, into dog fighting, facial tattoos and have bed bugs, this is your place. Shop around and read the reviews, I am so happy we left and new vet I found is fair w/ better prices, not nickel and dime you and so much more professional w/ great staff. Do your self and your pet a favor and run from here!
Pick a more professional veterinary office. The wait times are horrendous, expect to sit for at least an hour. One time I received an email saying I had a follow-up appointment. I drove across town, stressed my pet out, and when I got there they said oops sorry it was a computer mistake. I forgave it the first few issues, everyone has off days, but it's every single visit. Today they wrote down my pet's vitals on a napkin using a sharpie. If you bring your pet in the exam cell, many of the exam rooms have only one small corner bench so if you bring a second person don't expect for them to have anywhere to sit while you wait 45 minutes for the vet to come in. I also feel the doctors here have a gatekeeper business philosophy and they put profit above pet health.
I had an amazing experience here. My dog Rosie is dog-reactive and needed to be seen, due to excessive scratching. They are small, but oh, the service I witnessed. Rosie was whisked in a side door to a private room, which no other vet i called offered to do. (Damonte Ranch wanted to put her in a crate near other dogs for 1/2 day. She is DOG-REACTIVE.) I spoke to the actual doctor here, who took time to answer all my questions and tell me how cute my dog is. I witnessed 3 technicians assisting a blind senior dog into the facility while we were there, exhibiting great empathy (see photo). Everyone on staff was gushing over Rosie, and were upbeat and friendly. I got a follow-up text to see how she is doing, and an email thanking me for choosing them. Wow! THIS is the customer experience i yearn for. Rosie and i will be back. Thank you for taking such good care of my Rosie.
