Took our friends here for an early dinner. Piola is so quaint and cozy. We sat inside and had the best server that tended to our every need. We started with the Bruschetta with creamy cheese, sun dried tomatoes and olives. It was yummy. Everyone enjoyed their entrees and to end the evening a slice of Cappuccino Pie! We will definitely return!
Overall, I nice secluded restaurant west of the arts district. Service was great and I enjoyed the variety of food. Salmon was a little dry but the smoke flavor made up for the taste. That’s my reason for the 4 stars on food. We sat in the outdoor area and they had the heaters and fireplace cranked up. Perfect December night for big group gathering.
i really want to be able to give Piola a 5, but have trouble because the food has been inconsistent. Last spring we had a meal that i would have rated 10 if i could, We returned in November, my wife had a veal special which was very much overdone and dry, and i had a fabulous lobster ravioli. We were seated right beside the wine rack wall, so waiters constantly interrupted our dinner while reaching for bottles. This was amusing and homey the first couple of times but annoying by the end of the meal. Last week we returned and both had the special ossobuco, one of our favorites. However, one would think if it was a special, the chef would be careful in their choice of cuts...Ossobuco is supposed to be so carefully braised that the meat falls off the bone, fat is marbled and flavorful and marrow oozes into the gravy. Mine was tough and gristly and the bone sat hollow at the side of the plate, we both were sawing away with our knives, when really we should have just been using forks (as we have at other restaurants). The side was pesto mashed potatoes and a single blackened carrot that i didnt recognize as a carrot until i was finishing the gravy. The place was exceptionally busy so there really wasn't time to complain. We pointed out to the waiter when he cleared the table that there was a lot of gristle on the plates...But there really wasn't time to do anything except enjoy their very nice canoli and settle the bill. For $35, i was expecting an exceptional ossobuco, but felt i could have done better at home. We felt like this was 2 strikes, and it's good enough to give it a 3rd time at bat, but we'll go elsewhere for a while. Too bad really because it's only 5 minutes from our house and we want it to be our neighborhood go-to
What an incredible find! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed and treated like royalty at this incredible, and now my All-Time-Favorite, restaurant in the DFW Metroplex. An incredible wine selection of California, Italian and French wines, to go with exceptional food. The Watermelon Salad is an absolute must! Incredible flavor and not a filling appetizer. A good thing because the main entrees are exceptional. The shrimp & asparagus risotto was tender and a wonderful balance of flavors, worth perfectly (and I mean perfectly) prepared buttery shrimp. Grandma would be so proud of the individually prepared lasagna. The pasta tasted so fresh and the beef was seasoned perfectly to compliment the delicious sauce. Unfortunately. we didn't have time for dessert, but we will most certainly be back and be trying everything on the menu. Exceptional!
Our favorite place in all of Fort Worth. Exceptional service and food every time. We love to hear their specials as it’s always something good. My favorite is the bolognese and Caesar. Husband ordered the spicy mussel pasta. The mini cannolis are the perfect size for dessert.
