Shout out to Point Break Cafe. It's located in the old Oysterette location on Portsmouth Blvd. just down the street from shops and Chesapeake Mall. My son and grandson were visiting from NYC and I wanted to take them for Saturday brunch before they flew home. They are foodies and are often sampling the fares of the 5 boroughs so wanted to go someplace that wouldn't disappoint their opinion of Hampton Roads food. Point Break was on point. Both brunch and regular menu were offered. Everything was well-priced and looked appetizing. I had shrimp and grits, son had chicken fried steak, and grandson had steamed shrimp. The only complaint the latter had is that menu didn't forewarn that shrimp were peel and eat. Portions were large and delicious. We had been to a fancy downtown eatery the night before and they both said that, while the food was good there, they much preferred Pont Break; and of the two, is the only one they would return to. I was pleasantly surprised as well. I'd not heard of this place before and it came up randomly in a search for places with a brunch menu. I hope they become more widely known. They deserve restaurant longevity.

Eaten here a few times and honestly it seems to be hit or miss. 90% of there time the food and service was fantastic but I've had bad service a couple times, most likely due to being understaffed or new inexperienced waiter. I'd recommend going but maybe not if their very busy.

My wife and I went here on two separate occasions both times we had the same waitress I believe her name was Hannah a blonde woman. Both times we were there she was rude and inattentive. The second time we went we waited for a while before even getting to order while she was behind the bar just talking to the other waitresses. We were left with empty glasses for most of our meal as well. The food there was great though no complaints there definitely recommend for their food just not their service.
