We visited this morning with our family and unfortunately found the lady serving us to be quite rude. It felt like we were inconveniencing her simply by being there. She was very blunt and unfriendly, showed little patience when we asked questions, and her attitude toward our children wasn’t great either. I had heard that if you’re not a regular you may not be treated very nicely, but I was still shocked by the lack of warmth and basic courtesy. That said, the place itself looked great, which made the experience even more disappointing.

So good! Climbing in the upstairs bit is like “woah, I’m Alex Honnold” or whatever. They should call it Portaide El’Connor, I reckon. Then people would know they’re serious!

While traveling in Perth, I signed up for Axis Coaching (Initial 1-on-1 Private Coaching for 1 hour: $60) through the Portside Boulders website. It's located about a 10-minute walk from the Sainsbury Rd After Hines Rd bus stop. I scheduled a time via email and received one-hour instruction from Coach EM. Since I struggle to communicate in English, Coach EM, with my understanding, used a translation app on my smartphone to help me learn safe falling techniques and create a bouldering course suited to my skill level. Portside Boulders O'Connor offers a variety of bouldering courses and is a great gym for beginners. While my English communication skills were a bit limited, Coach EM's detailed guidance provided a high-quality workout. Please note that you can continue your workout after the one-hour lesson. If I ever visit Perth again, I'd love to visit this gym again. If you are visiting by public transport, it is convenient to use public transport from Freementle or Bull Creek.

Good service, spacious, great designed wall. Great hot chocolate and drinks. Friendly staff. Toilets clean. Can be better if hire more staff as it’s school holidays now. Female size 38+ shoes renting needed to wait as well. Reasonable price. Will definitely come back!
