I’m sat writing this review after being released 10 days ago after serving a nine year sentence, which I am pretty certain would’ve been longer had it not been for Richard Derby (solicitor) and Jonathan Duffy (barrister). The charges that I was indicted on were not 100% accurate at all, so naturally I didn’t want to plead guilty to them, and I wanted the real story to be heard. I told Richard exactly what I was and wasn’t responsible for and he told me that he was up for a fight in order to try and secure an acquittal. My plan was tell both the jury and the court my side of events that led to the subsequent charges, and Potter Derby were willing to go for this approach with me, after a lot of previous solicitors tried to push me in a direction that I didn’t want to go in. Richard didn’t pull his punches, he was always 100% straight with me and told me when things were either looking good or bad. His no nonsense approach was vital for me and gave me a lot of clarity. His work into my case was phenomenal, and he frequently argued with the prosecution regarding evidence and disclosure. Richard genuinely did go above and beyond for me. Whilst on trial, Jonathan Duffy was outstanding in court. I couldn’t have asked for someone to portray me in a more authentic light, which is exactly what I wanted the court and the jury to see. Whilst the verdict didn’t go in my favour, I believe that because of the way I was portrayed by my legal team in court, my sentence was a lot more lenient than it would’ve been, as the judge had been made aware of the true circumstances. I would like to point out that the reason for the guilty verdict cannot be blamed on anyone who was representing me. I was unfortunately on trial for a firearms offence during a time when a lot of high profile shootings had recently occurred. It was an uphill battle to begin with, and I acknowledged that, but my legal team still put up one hell of a fight. I honestly cannot recommend Potter Derby & Jonathan Duffy enough. They were straight talking, worked hard for me and genuinely cared about my position and my story.

Well all I can say is I’ve never had the pleasure of dealing with a solicitor as incompetent as they are. How can someone be on remand for 9 months and not receive his docs Not be on his pin therefore can’t even get in touch with them They attached them selves to the case got legal aid fund and done absolutely nothing. Didn’t attend for most of the trial and never turned up for sentencing. In a word incompetent outfit

Would like to say a big thankyou to potter derby solicitors, adam croft was brilliant from the start , he was very professional, answered all my questions , returned all my calls and was quick to message back . The barrister they used for my case was excellent , they achieved the best possible outcome for me at court . Highly recommended.

My friend was given this solicitors details to represent him they attached there self to his entitlement to legal aid and did very little engaging with him saying they had corresponded when then had not ... His statement was already written up my a solicitor he hadn't even met other than a conversation over the phone No evidence or witnesses asked for ...change of solicitor without even being told .... Bit of advice if you do decide to use them check what there handing into court and what the jury will see ..that there are 12 jurer and 12 copies for all to view
