An eclectic jumble of mismatched cozy antique chairs, a grand wall brimming with books, a strange mix of warm, bright, and vibrant cozy colors, this reading spot is peak. Spinach and Feta quiche was buttery and delicious. Good pricing as well 11/10 stars

They have a small assortment of baked goods and a large beverage menu with interesting and tasty hot and cold drinks. The place is popular so don’t be surprised if you can’t find a seat on the weekends.

Absolutely charming! Protagonist Café is the perfect blend of cozy bookstore and inviting coffee shop. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the warmth, the décor, the ambiance, and especially the people. The staff are incredibly kind and knowledgeable, and the owner is amazing! I reached out after spotting a one-of-a-kind item in her shops windowsill that I couldn’t find anywhere online. She went above and beyond to gift me the item, simply because she knew how much I loved it. That level of generosity and care is so rare these days and truly speaks to the spirit of this place. My pup and I, yes they are super dog friendly, stopped back in to pick up the item (and of course grab a delicious coffee), and we left with a $50 gift card to share the joy. If you love books, good coffee, and genuine people, Protagonist Café is an absolute must-visit.

Good coffee, a variety of sweets and drinks, and a whimsical atmosphere. We came across this cafe just as we were craving coffee while exploring St. Louis - we saw the name, and had to try it. The staff was friendly, and there were lots of options to choose from - coffee, pastries, cookies, ice cream, and even alcoholic beverages! The space is eclectic and cozy at the same time - fun colors, design, and lots of books. I recommend!!

This is the cutest little cafe with used books you can purchase and unique gifts as well! Plenty of space to work, read or just relax. I was traveling from Dallas and stopped in after a visit to Session Taco. We wanted to coffee and a treat before we hit the road again! The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful! The cookies were so tasty! Our drinks the Smokey Bear Latte, & the Antagonist were so yummy, they hit the spot! If I lived in the area, I’d certainly be a regular here! Stop in and enjoy a treat!
