I delivered here a load of roses 🌹 on my big rig.If you are coming from 1604 loop and when you arrived in front of the nursery make a U-Turn before the lights and then enter from the second gate on your right hand side and then back up the trailer near the garbage containers. Very nice and helpful staff here.Restroom available in the middle of the nursery
Amazing experience with lots to see and explore! They have everything from fruit trees to orchids to houseplants to Texas native plants and flowers. There’s a large greenhouse with garden herbs, air plants, houseplants, etc. as well as a whole outdoor section that you can spend hours roaming. Everything is taken great care of! Loved seeing at all the different pollinators enjoying the flowers here as well! You can find great options for potting soil, fertilizer, and mixes here too.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 A Truly Magical Garden Experience — Especially for Lovers of the Unusual, the Exotic, and the Bug-Eating Kind! Rainbow Gardens on Bandera Road is hands-down one of the most beautiful, well-run, and downright enchanting nurseries I’ve ever visited—not just in San Antonio, but anywhere. As someone who loves plants of all kinds (especially the weird and wonderful ones), I came in hoping to find a few basics… but I left with a cart full of treasures and a renewed love for gardening. 🌿💚 Let’s talk about what makes this place special, starting with their carnivorous plant selection. Yes, you read that right—carnivorous plants! These bug-hunting beauties aren’t something you see every day in your average nursery. They had Venus Fly Traps, sundews, pitcher plants, and even a few specialty varieties that would make any plant nerd absolutely giddy. I was especially hunting for a healthy sundew (aka Drosera, for my fellow plant geeks), and the second I laid eyes on their stock, I knew I hit the jackpot. Bright, sticky tentacles glistening in the light, vibrant coloring, and clearly well cared for—these weren’t just healthy; they were thriving. But it wasn’t just about the plants — it was the experience. The staff at Rainbow Gardens are next-level amazing. Everyone I interacted with was kind, patient, and above all, extremely knowledgeable. I asked a ton of questions about how to care for my new carnivorous plant babies — light levels, water type (distilled only!), how often to feed, humidity needs — and not only did they answer everything, but they seemed genuinely excited to talk about it. You can tell this isn’t just a job to them. They love what they do, and that energy is contagious. In fact, one staff member walked me through how their sundews actually digest bugs using enzymes, and how to spot signs of overfeeding or underwatering. I never felt rushed, never felt like a bother, and I left with both plants and knowledge. That’s rare these days. Customer service like this is gold. The layout of the nursery is also a dream. Everything is organized beautifully, labeled clearly, and spaced out so you can browse without feeling cramped. Whether you’re looking for succulents, vegetables, herbs, flowering perennials, houseplants, or native Texas-friendly species, you’ll find it here — and likely leave with something you didn’t even know you wanted. And let me just say: this is a sanctuary. The pathways are lined with colorful blooms and buzzing pollinators. The air smells like green things and fresh soil. There’s shade, sunshine, and even little places to pause and just exist among the plants. It’s not just a shopping trip—it’s a full sensory experience that feels almost meditative. I didn’t expect a garden center to become a place I go to decompress, but here we are. Their pricing is also fair, especially for the quality you’re getting. I’ve been to other nurseries where the plants look sad, sunburned, or root-bound, but Rainbow Gardens? Every single specimen looked lush and cared for. You’re not just buying plants—you’re investing in a healthy, vibrant addition to your home or garden that’s already had a strong start. And yes, if you’re into rare or exotic plants, Rainbow Gardens is a must-visit. Whether you’re an experienced collector or a curious first-timer wanting to try something different, this is the spot. I never thought I’d be able to find a living bug-trapping sundew at a local garden center, but here we are—and I’m in love. 🪰💧🌱
Today I visited the Rainbow Gardens nursery on Bandera Road in San Antonio, and it was just as impressive as their Thousand Oaks location. The Bandera nursery offers a fantastic selection of plants, pottery, gardening tools, seeds, trees—essentially anything you could want to enhance or beautify your garden. I enjoyed walking through the grounds and exploring their wide range of offerings. I ended up purchasing a couple of beautiful flowering plants to finish off my hanging baskets. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and there were plenty of checkout stations, which made the experience smooth and enjoyable. Parking is decent, although it can get a bit tight during peak times due to how popular the place is. Still, it’s worth it for the variety and quality of what they offer. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just getting started, I highly recommend visiting either of Rainbow Gardens’ San Antonio locations. You’re sure to find something you’ll love—and leave with more than you planned!
I really love this plant nursery. It’s gorgeous and has an amazing selection. Found everything I was looking for. It’s massive, and could get lost forever (in a good way!). Will be recommending this place.
