Rockreation is a great alternative to the larger climbing gyms around LA. Right in the heart of West LA, it’s super convenient and saves you the long drive if you live nearby. The setup is solid with a mix of fun and challenging walls — enough to keep pros in shape while still being approachable for casual climbers. For kids, the classes and camps are well-run and definitely worth it. A reliable neighborhood spot for climbing without the hassle. According to my kid, Coach Lucas is the best!

Sam at the front desk made visiting this gym entirely worth it for me! The gym itself is great - on the smaller side, but great routes and a pretty decent workout area for a climbing gym. Yes it’s a pretty advanced place with routes set more similarly to outdoor climbing, and grouped difficulty - but the extra challenge for me was nice. And Sam was incredibly kind and informative; would 100% recommend and come again!

Terrible place. No runs for beginners. Constantly closed sections for repairs. But what killed it for me was their loose dog policy. Dogs can just run around there and chill under climbers. So falling climbers have to choose between breaking an ankle or crushing a dog. I wrote to the manager about this and never got a reply. I don't think they care. Do not go here. Worst climbing gym around.

Not really a good bouldering experience because the levels are labeled in range. For example v0 to v2 are labelled exactly the same, so not beginner-friendly. Also the lights are really bad in some bouldering areas

Great experience !!! We took the Gravity classes and they are great. The instructor tailored his teaching to our level and made it a great session. We were able to put his advice and teaching in practice as we were going. They have different levels so call in to see what's best for you!
