These guys put on their instagram story that they were having an open mat. I drive 50 minutes to go try the place out and they tell me I have to have 2 stripes or something crap like that. This is just a cash grab mechanic. An open mat means that it is free and open to the public. If you aren’t hosting an open mat then don’t put that on your social media. Thanks for making me drive there and back home for nothing. That’s an hour and 40 minutes I’ll never get back. Queen City, iron wolf, and SG don’t do any of that crap. If you don’t want your time wasted go there instead. This place has extremely pretentious policies
Had to change gyms because of scheduling and parking. Sessions were impossible to fit in my schedule. Evening classes worked but i couldnt get proper instruction with so many people. One morning instructor was great but didnt have enough options. I read some drama about the owners that i wont repeat here but check the forums, its juicy. I would not recommend.
I did BJJ at Ronin for 9 months before I had to move back to NJ. They have classes for beginners and more advanced. They make it easy to improve and see progress. Coach Oliveira is awesome. The coach actively competes and it is great to get insight from someone who actively competes at high levels. If you’re in Columbus area there is no better gym.
Been here almost a year after being introduced by a friend who trains here. i had no previous martial arts backyard. Don't let the small percent of negative reviews keep you from coming. The gym is clean, well ran, has some of the best instructors in the world and a great community of people who are always willing to answer questions,. As a female doing BJJ it can be intimidating, but the professors always make sure i feel safe and the group of women who train there too are incredibly welcoming and supportive.
Very positive experiences so far for my kids. I have my 7 and 5yr old daughters enrolled in the free week trial and they are really enjoying Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai. The training is great and I hope to be able to enroll myself at some point. Everyone has been friendly and welcoming so far and the main instructors for both have made sure to spend adequate 1-on-1 time with my girls to help them get started. The Jiu Jitsu 5-7yr old class had about 18 students, so there are moments when things get a little chaotic, but it was well managed overall. There was 1 main instructor (I think her name is Sarah) and two assistants. I personally wasn't there for their first Muay Thai session, but my wife said that Coach Boggs is a natural instructor and did great with the kids. Pricing seems fair and I will for sure be bringing them back at some point when we have the finances.
