The St Louis Art Museum is absolutely fantastic. We're so very blessed to have the cultural, artistic and historical exhibits to see so close to home. We come from 3 hours away (Central Illinois) but I grew up in st Louis and it never disappoints, always exceeds expectations. St Louis offers so much to enjoy for FREE‼️ Be sure to b come a member or make a donation in order to support the art museum 's efforts to bring the very best in exhibits and support the arts. It's the least we can all do to help support and keep these valuable gems in our area for generations ❤️🎨🎭🖌️
Went to see the Anselm Kiefer exhibit and it was awe inspiring. The museum is beautiful and flows easily. But the best, by far, were the staff, who were helpful, knowledgeable, and fun. I loved the fact that because it is a free museum it was full of every type of human from the very tiny to the very aged and in every color of the skin rainbow. Also, and very important for me, the coffee in the cafe was delicious! We're already planning our next trip back there.
Saturday( 1/17/26)- Ansel Keifer St. Louis Art Museum. Decided to check out the Ansel Kiefer exhibit at the St. Louis Art Museum. It is such a great thing that you can see international Art exhibitions for free. We went early with no waiting. The exhibit was impressive. The medium Ansel used varied but was interesting natural items. The use of gold leaf, ash, and twigs made these exhibits stand out. His 1991 visit to St. Louis and the journey on the Mississippi inspired this exhibition. These new luminous new green and gold paintings depicting rivers and protective water spirits. His earlier works showed The Rhine river from his childhood memories. I would recommend you see these impressive 30 foot paintings before they are gone by the 25th of January.
The Saint Louis Art Museum is a beautiful place to visit, especially if you enjoy history and cultural collections. While not all of the paintings stood out to me, the historical sections were truly impressive and very well presented. The building itself is elegant, and the galleries feel calm and easy to explore without feeling rushed. One nice advantage is that admission is free, which makes it easy to spend as much or as little time as you want. Some modern or contemporary pieces may not appeal to everyone, but the ancient, classical, and historical works really shine. Tip: Focus on the historical and global art sections if you’re short on time—they are the highlights and well worth it.
A must visit spot in St. Louis. And having visited too many art galleries across the globe, this one is with no doubt: outstanding. It has varieties of art pieces from old Egypt to modern America. Bank one full day to fully enjoy what this museum can offer. The museum is free admission as well which is amazing 👏 Also, the staff are very friendly and helpful.
