I can’t believe it’s been almost a month since I’ve been here and haven’t posted my review yet. Life, I guess. The reason I keep remembering to post is because every time I look in the mirror and see my new hair, I fall in love with the cut all over again and I want to thank my stylist with a good review. I can’t recommend this place, specifically my stylist, Eugene, enough. I came in (this was my first time here) and was immediately greeted by the receptionist with a warm welcome and an outline as to how the visit will proceed. Eugene welcomed me into his chair and looked through my inspiration pics with me, giving his opinion as we went along. I have long hair and was making the big chop today and he convinced me not to go as short as I had planned, a recommendation which I’m glad I took. After the wash, he took his time cutting my hair, making special effort to ensure the layers fell evenly and beautifully. His patience and precision to detail is what stood out to me about this cut. I’ve had long hair all my life and going (relatively) short was a new experience, one Eugene made very comfortable for me. The blow-dry after was well done as well and I left the salon extremely happy and admiring my hair every chance I got. Eugene takes about 1.5 hours for a cut. To some this may seem lengthy, but with the effort and detail he put into what I consider to be an important part of my appearance, I was happy to stay for that time. I will definitely be going back here in a few months for a trim and shape-up and will be booking with Eugene again. I encourage anyone who is looking to cut or trim to do the same. Thanks for a great experience, Salon V!
Love Salon V! My usual stylist left and I got a haircut today with Kaitlyn and I’m absolutely obsessed. She listened to exactly what my desires were, as well as what I was nervous about, and gave me the best haircut I’ve ever had. I came in feeling daring and wanted a big change and she helped me achieve that with a look that I am completely obsessed with and feel so confident and chic in! Thank you Kaitlyn! She is definitely now my go to stylist for all future haircuts ❤️✨
I had a haircut with Kaitlyn today and it was a great experience. She took the time to talk to me about my hair goals, assessed the shape and texture, and then got to work. In her very capable hands, my hair went from shabby to chic in no time! Lovely expereince at the salon in general and all the kudos to Kaitlyn for how great my hair looks!
Just had another great haircut with Eugene! He styles my hair with so much care and precision so I always leave with a great cut. I don't even live in NYC but only let Eugene cut my hair. Thanks!
I have been a regular to Salon V since I discovered them through the Kevin Murphy website back in 2018. When a bad balayage job from a salon in the Midwest resulted in bleach blonde hair, I reached out to a few places for quotes and a consultation. That’s when I found Meg and Salon V. Despite not being a resident of NY, or even being from the East Coast, I make every effort to return to them for haircut and colour services. I have seen a few different stylists there like Meg, Stephanie and the owner, Vernelle. Which Meg and Stephanie are no longer there, I have never been disappointed. After a visit this past weekend, where I received a full head balayage and haircut with Reiki, I do believe that my latest stylist would do well to receive some additional training when it comes to colour. She was very sweet, and I loved my haircut with her, but when it came to the balayage itself there was too much lightness all the way to the roots and it wasn’t the right colour. I did call them 3 hours after my appointment to let them know I was not satisfied with the hair colour because it was too ashy for my olive complexion and they had me come in to correct it the next day. While I am happy with how the colour turned out, which is like a warm toffee/bronze, it is not exactly what I had in mind and not what I showed in the photos. I would still recommend this salon though, but again I reiterate that I feel the stylist would do well to receive training on colour or at least do well to get a second opinion from other stylists that work there before doing the toner. It would also be great if she shared beforehand how many pieces of foil she would do (I.e. Meg would tell me I am thinking 12 pieces of foil throughout the hair) or just her process beforehand and that would allow me to picture it with her and let her know if I felt like it was too much/too little. Salon V is a special gem nevertheless and no matter where I live in the US, I would return in a heartbeat.
