A friend booked a group whale watching excursion for us and we had a great time!! Luisa was our tour guide and she did a fantastic job explaining the whale behaviors and capturing these images that she sent us. Obviously it’s not guaranteed to see whales and how many, but our group was very blessed to see fins smacking and several breaches.
We saw so many whales! Luisa knew exactly where to find them and Captain Javier also spotted some. In total, we saw about 9 + whales in groups of 3 to 7. Once we found them, they gave us quite the show with their water spouts, revolutions, tail waves, and a few that breached. It was amazing. We sailed mid day in December. Because the boat is small, we could get close, but still at a safe distance. Luisa, shared her extensive knowledge about whale behaviors. She clearly loves her profession and happily shows her enthusiasm for these awesome creatures. The whales are so graceful navigating the waters and diving in and out of the water sometimes in pairs like a beautiful ballet. Don’t miss this experience when in San Jose Del Cabo.
This week we booked two activities with Salty Cabo Excursions: a private whale-watching tour and a private day trip to Todos Santos. Both were outstanding. Private Whale Watching Luisa was our guide (her brother captained the boat), and this time of year you mostly see gray whales. We spotted a mom and her five-day-old baby. At first, the mom was guiding her calf away from us, but once she realized we were keeping a respectful distance, they slowly approached. At one point, the mom was directly under our boat while the baby popped its head up repeatedly to check us out. It was unbelievably sweet. Then we saw a lot of spouts in the distance and headed over. What we found was incredible: four males chasing a female. Watching them interact was powerful, beautiful, and honestly breathtaking. Even Luisa—who’s on her 17th season and has truly seen it all—seemed impressed. Private Day Trip to Todos Santos Two days later, Ramon picked us up at our hotel for our Todos Santos excursion. No one else signed up that day, so it turned into a completely private, custom tour. In Todos Santos, we hit the big highlights: Hotel California, Tequila Sunrise, and a long stroll through several shops. We even picked up a poncho and a dress for the nephew and niece. The town is charming, walkable, and fun to explore. The real adventure, however, began after Todos Santos. The Green Room: A gorgeous, high-end beachfront restaurant. We were still full from breakfast, so we didn’t stay for lunch, but we’ll return—and we want to check out Villa Santa Cruz on a future trip. Agricole: We shopped at the store, and they have a Michelin restaurant we plan to try next time. Cerritos Beach: A laid-back surf beach that feels like a whole vibe. Since most Cabo beaches aren’t swimmable, it was fun to see a spot where beginners were learning to surf on welcoming waves. Ramon was an exceptional guide—knowledgeable, relaxed, and genuinely invested in making the day special. It was magical from start to finish. Salty Cabo Excursions will be our first stop for future adventures in Cabo. Snorkeling might be next.
Luisa and Johnathan were top notch guides. This was not my first whale watching tour, nor my first boat excursion. I will say it was my favorite ever. From the positive energy of the staff, to the immaculate condition of the vessel, this was the best. They have experience and it shows. They took us right to where the whales were and we were surrounded by them for what felt like forever.
Had an amazing experience for a snorkeling tour with Luisa! We mentioned on the way to the boat that we saw some whales from the shore the day before, and we ended up seeing at least 3-4 whales just on the way to the site! It was truly an amazing experience, we had so much fun and we felt in good hands. The boat looked great and was very clean and well maintained and offered some much needed shade. Really appreciated that they sent us the footage they recorded throughout the day. I will be coming back for another tour next time I’m in Cabo 100%
