I've lived in San Diego my entire life thus far and never knew this great facility was available. In addition to the great community parks with its playground, picnic tables, and restrooms, the recreation offers pee wee sports, ballet, and arts & crafts for the you ones. You can also schedule events at the park and recreation center upon approval. Recently they added cheer for kids, youth basketball, and an available teen activity time with games and a set up for homework time from 3 pm till 7 pm for free. I came here to get a good walk here and the park can offer that, too. It's a good walk around the perimeter and through the park as well with small moderate hills.
Our son participated in the AYSO karate classes offered in the rec center each week and it's been a pleasant experience. Super affordable and an easy way to learn a new sport with kids outside of his school.
the rec is really fun and they go through a hard time with parents and kids so i rate them a 5. sincerely, Mia and Amari
RE: Gage Elementary Field managed by SCP&R. 1. Renting out the field is okay, but renting it out to sports teams for after school hours until 8pm is not acceptable, nor is it fair to the community residents that PAY TAXES to use this park after school hours. These sports teams should only be allowed to play until 7pm, so we get at least one hour to use the field ourselves. 2. Those who rent the park like these sports teams should be required to pick up their trash off the field prior to leaving each day AND bring their own trash receptacles AND TAKE THEM WHEN THEY LEAVE EACH DAY! Every Saturday these teams and their guests NOT ONLY overflow both trash cans, they litter the field with plastic bottles, BEER cans, and trash! This past Saturday on 08/16/25, I asked them to pick up their garbage as they were all leaving and they just kept on leaving. Not one adult that was in charge did anything! 3. It is now Friday the 22nd and the trash cans have not been emptied by P&R and the players keep leaving their trash every afternoon they use the field. 4. I was under the impression that drinking alcoholic beverages in public parks was illegal, yet last weekends Soccer fans not only were drinking as spectators, they left all their empty cans in a box meant for their trash (I assume) on the field. A 90% empty trash box except for the beer cans while they overflowed OUR COMMUNITY and the ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS TRASH CANS. So all week, my daughter has had to go to school and be on that field with the trash cans overflowing onto the ground with feces bags, bottles and beer cans. GOOD JOB, SAN CARLOS P&R, Way to do your jobs and look at for the community members whose tax dollars pay your wages! We demand USE OF OUR PARK after school hours! We already pay for this use in our property and local taxes. What do the out-of-towners pay to trash it and misuse it?
Smaller park but still has Kool place to relax. nice playground, clean restrooms, Baseball Fields and Basketball court's inside and out of the Gym....
