We love San Marcos Music Academy! My 11-year-old takes piano and my 8-year-old takes vocal lessons, and the teachers are amazing—fun, kind, and great with kids. Brandon, the owner, is very friendly and makes everyone feel welcome. The vibe here is awesome, and my kids truly enjoy learning. Highly recommend, especially for families with young kids!

AMAZING teachers that are friendly and help you learn your instrument well. I especially recommend Bobby for drumming and Rachel for saxophone.

Marvin Gorovitz is an absolutely fantastic clarinet and saxophone instructor, and I can't recommend him highly enough for any woodwind student. He's been teaching my son, Caleb, for 2+ years and the progress Caleb has made is truly remarkable. Caleb has learned so much from Marvin. He has taught Caleb everything from the basics of where to place fingers to optimize efficiency, to how to care for his clarinet and reeds, to sight-reading with minimal mistakes. Marvin has also instilled in Caleb the importance of listening to others, whether it be in a group setting or duet, and becoming part of the song (even if it is a small part, each part has its importance). It has been amazing to listen to the duets Marvin and Caleb play because the music truly sounds like a conversation and the musicality is beautiful. What really sets Marvin apart is his ability to help Caleb add personality to the songs he plays. He doesn't just teach the time and key signatures or what notes to play; he teaches the artistry in each piece and how versatile the clarinet can be in each section. He's also incredibly thorough, showing Caleb how to maximize efficiency in his playing. Marvin is so patient and dedicated; he always takes his time with Caleb and will even extend lessons to ensure Caleb fully grasps the concepts being taught. He has an endless supply of wonderful music, and I'm so impressed that he's entrusted Caleb with pieces from Gershwin, Mozart, and other fantastic composers. Marvin doesn't just teach; he actively participates, playing along in duets and demonstrating different ways Caleb can interpret the music. He's truly a fantastic teacher, a wonderful mentor, and an incredible musician. We're so grateful to have him! Oh, did I mention that with Marvin's help, Caleb tested in to the Honors band at his school, and he was the first Freshman ever to do so! So if you are looking for a clarinet or saxophone instructor, Marvin is your best option!

I’m currently a student, and I do piano and my teacher is so so sweet and amazing to all her students and I feel like I’ve genuinely learned so much from her in less than a year !! All the other teachers at the academy are real nice too :)

What a great experience for a first timer! My son decided to take up the trumpet as he enters junior high and we scheduled a first lesson with Andy. My son is usually pretty shy and takes time to warm up to people, but Andy did an incredible job making him feel welcome, comfortable, and celebrating his new interest in music! My son walked out with the biggest smile on his face and it lasted all the way home. He said Andy was great and he can’t wait to go back for his next lesson. Also worth mentioning was that Bobby, who got us started with renting the instrument, was incredibly friendly and welcoming. He made the whole process so comfortable. I highly recommend this place and Bobby and Andy specifically.
