Great decoration and atmosphere, authentic taste but very salty pastas. Weekday set menu for a good price.
Went here for a takeaway soup and bread. For the price of £6.95 we received a small cup of soup and a little slice of bread. Having previously sat in and paid the same price, it felt like this place are happy to take the rip out of takeaway custom. Only once I challenged this they remedied the lack of bread.
Santa Lucia on Byres Road is, in my opinion, one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever visited and certainly the finest in Glasgow. The food is absolutely outstanding — incredibly delicious, full of authentic Italian flavours, and prepared with real passion and care. Every dish is beautifully presented with great attention to detail, making the whole dining experience feel special and refined. The quality and consistency of the food are truly impressive. The service is exceptional and deserves special recognition. From the very beginning, we were warmly welcomed by a lovely Polish lady whose kindness and positive energy instantly made us feel comfortable and well looked after. We were also served by a wonderful Italian gentleman who was not only incredibly friendly and professional, but also funny and charming, adding a great sense of humour to the experience. The entire team is pure gold — attentive, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They create such a warm and joyful atmosphere that makes every visit memorable. I visit Santa Lucia on Byres Road regularly — sometimes with friends, sometimes for girls’ nights out, and also with my children. Each time, the experience is consistently fantastic. The staff are always incredibly welcoming towards children, making them feel truly comfortable and included. Their approach to families is wonderful, thoughtful, and genuinely caring, which makes dining here with kids a real pleasure. The drinks are just as impressive as the food — beautifully presented, perfectly balanced, and absolutely delicious, all served with great care and attention. Santa Lucia on Byres Road is a place I always love coming back to. Exceptional food, wonderful service, and a warm, family-friendly atmosphere make it a true gem. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an outstanding Italian dining experience in Glasgow I didn’t really plan on taking photos during this visit, so I don’t have many — but that didn’t stop it from being a wonderful experience
CIVITAVECCHIA - Requires more spices and sauce preparation. The bacon (pork) bites are very strongly fried, which makes the outer shell fairly hard to get through, but when you bite into the bacon bites, the juicy flavor of the meat with spices comes through and balances everything out. As far as I understand, they didn't add too many spices to the pasta and sauce itself to accent the meat instead, and that gives off a poor reaction to the taste buds. Lasagna Fritta - It's three small pieces of lasagne, and the worst that could happen to it was that it got deep fried, which got rid of most of its moisture, making the dish lose a big portion of its spices and taste. As far as I understand, after they deep-fried the lasagne pieces, they just poured tomato sauce on it (I think the tomato sauce had a big accent of garlic in it as well), but the shocking part was that it came to the table very cold, which gives off the microwaved food situations in Gordon Ramsay's programs. The pasta was cold as well. ( I do know Lasagna fritta is supposed to be like that, but this was very dry and tasteless ) Tiramisu - Has all layers, so far the best thing that my taste buds have tried this evening, but still the mascarpone hasn't been held in the fridge long enough because mascarpone is stretchy rather than easily cut off with the spoon. The lowest layer is fairly tasteless. So far, very average. Antonio is the best waiter in the world, though! I'll learn Italian because of him hahaha Also, the cappuccino was amazing!
We had a relaxed dinner in the sun here. The food was fabulous and the drinks were alright. Our server was super friendly and made the whole experience great. Extra points for not having a ridiculous service charge like other places around, so a tip well deserved. Overall an excellent experience and we'll definitely be back.
