SD Youth Camp is a Safe and Fun place to take your kids. The Staff is Professional and they are Awesome with the kids. I've seen kids excited to be a part of SD Youth camp because they make new friends, learn new things and go on fun field trips.. A safe place away from home!!
Highly recommend this camp the leaders are great and the kids have the best time ever i have friends kids who come as well and they keep them active the entire time and have field trips and the best time ever my son always tells me how much fun he has!
This is my 2nd time around with this camp. Wonderful experience and professional communication with the parents. Keep in mind there are other camps occupying the same park which could be problematic but it isn't at all. They Have been at this park/camp the longest and it shows. From the activities, to the staff, to the field trips definitely sets them apart from others. My child can't wait to go early in the morning and always has a lot of excitement explaining her day when I pick her up. Great camp from elementary, middle and so on.
6/20/2024 around 2pm kids aren’t really being supervised. They have only been here for 20 minutes and have already witnessed 2 separate fights between kids ages 5-8. I also heard a girl around the age of 7-9 speaking into the little playground speaker things telling the other kids to call them stupid and loser. Not to mention they are hogging one of the slides so other kids in the park can’t use it. As a parent I know I’d be upset to see this behavior from my kids and knowing the supervisors are a few feet away occupied with what seems like older kids. If your kids are part of this camp I’d encourage a meeting with staff or look for something different.
Earlier this summer I saw an ad for this camp and thought about enrolling our child here. I am so very happy I did not. I happened to see the campers at Allied Gardens pool and the lack of real supervision these kids had. What I noticed was the lifeguards doing a lot of redirect while the "counselors" sat and looked completely unengaged. Furthermore, as they lined up to back to base across the street, kids were all over the place. We had our bags on the side wall. Some of the campers started going through our things and picked up toys on my towels and put them in their pocket! Yes, stealing. Two counselors were right there and said not a word. I came over and ask the kids to put my things back. The couselors (both of them) said NOTHING. We walked over to the park and explained this to the director. His first words were "it's hard to keep track when there's a lot of kids". Really? Then hire some more people. Even when I said both counselor were there he still looked at me as I was crazy but at lest said he'd talk to the kids. Honestly, I did not feel he even took my concern seriously. I am just so happy I never enrolled my kid there, and I feel bad for parents who don't even have a clue what their kids are doing while at camp.
