Today I attended my fourth class at session yoga. The quality of the class was excellent, As for the first three. However, I will most likely never returned. Today I was in a packed room next to somebody who coughed a wet cough and was clearly still getting over being sick. The whole class I was tense and uncertain if I should leave. I cannot afford to get sick because of someone else being very inconsiderate and coming to class with a cough. Unfortunately, I have the kind of mind that counts, and this person cost at least 30 or 40 times during the class. not only is the noise disruptive, but even more of a Concern is whether or not the wet and Biscus cough residue is contagious. Since I am less than 3 feet Away, I am not foolish enough to think that I did not inhale any of the droplets. The entire class I was tense and could not get my mind off when would be the next cough, and whether or not I should leave or stay and if I chose to stay, would I get sick. I just can't believe someone would come to class and think it's OK to cough. The person tried to subdue the cough and so it wasn't that loud, but I couldn't ignore the hacking quality to it and the fact that every time I started to relax and get into the mindset of hot yoga, I would be interrupted with another cough and the thoughts that I explained above. After the class, I did approach the teacher and mentioned that I was concerned about the coughing. I told her that I was concerned about getting sick and that I really hoped I wouldn't get sick. She said absolutely nothing to me and just smiled and nodded her head. I started to leave, so I turned around and realized I had dropped one of my socks. So unbeknownst to her and her friend who had earlier checked me in, they were making faces behind my back and when I suddenly turned around, they were busted. They both looked very embarrassed because they had Immature grins on their faces. I chose not to say anything to them, but they know that what they did was extremely unprofessional. I was in no way mean or rude when I mentioned the coughing. I know that I am totally in the right and some sort of response acknowledging my concern would have been appropriate. I am probably one of the most nicest tolerant people there are in public settings, but I will not keep quiet when my health is at Risk because someone is so inconsiderate that they need to come to yoga class with a hacking cough.
I’m in town for the gem show and just took my first yoga class at this studio. My instructor Kaitlyn led the perfect early morning class with a great blend of movement and meditation. Plus her playlist was fire which is always welcomed surprise. Highly recommend and I can’t wait to take another tomorrow!
I went to Maya’s class this morning at the Foothills location and it was top notch. It was my first time in the studio and everyone was super welcoming, including other students. I instantly felt like a part of the community and I loved the friendly chatter before class. Maya’s class was equally as lovely, it was super fun and I loved the music! Also, the studio heat wasn’t stifling, but I still worked up a sweat. Highly recommend ✨
