Let's start with the good - the grounds and tasting room were beautiful. We booked a grand reserve cave tasting and we're confused as we headed upstairs. Our guide was very nice but admitted that this was her first grand reserve cave tasting and her depth of knowledge about the winery and wines needed more time. I realize that wine tastes are very personal, but if these were the best they had to offer this winery is not for me. The whites uniformly had residual sugar and were quite sweet. The sparkling had added sugar and was nearly syrup. The reds were equally problematic. The Tannat was adequate and drinkable but the others ended up in the discard bucket. My recommendations are if you like sweet wines and can sit in the tasting room or patio, this place is great. If you want memorable wines you might want to look elsewhere.
Perfectly set at the foot of the blue ridge mountain range. Acres of will managed vines on beautiful landscapes, restaurants, walking trails and music venue.
First time here and it was to pick up for my job. I would have loved to have toured the grounds. But a piece of crap Google maps took me on a 3.5 hour drive to get there. Actual drive 1.20 hours once I got there and realized where I was. It is a beautiful place supporting NC and happy valley filling station in Lenoir. Check it out. It's beautiful 😍❤️
Our anniversary visit to Shelton Vineyards was absolutely amazing!!! The grounds are beautiful. The tasting room and shop were great and had a wealth of “wine finds” to add to my collection. The entire staff was warm and welcoming from the time we walked in the door and Cindy was the absolute best in the tasting room!!!
We had our wedding reception at the Farm House at Shelton Vineyards, and it was absolutely perfect. We got married at a different location nearby that was special to our family, and Jennie made the transition to the reception so easy. She was incredibly kind and helpful, and really took the time to understand our vision for the evening. The food, catered by the Harvest Grill on-site, was amazing—our guests are still talking about it! There were so many great options to choose from, and everything was delicious. The setting is stunning. We caught golden hour and got the most beautiful photos with the vineyard in the background. It was such a peaceful and gorgeous space to celebrate. I’m so glad we chose the Farm House and I highly recommend it for any special event!
