The food was disgusting and full of salt. The only item we could eat and enjoy was the Sushi. The cooked food was expensive ( we upgrade to NY Strip) over cooked and just covered in salt. The fried was absolutely the worst fried rice I have ever eaten. It had corn randomly it it and was so saturated with oil and no other vegetables; it was like eating grease rice balls. The chicken was marginal at best. The shrimp tasted they had been frozen and thawed out- flavorless. The entire meal was just one disappointment after another. The server/ bartender was enjoyable and tried her best to accommodate us. However, the food was garbage! I felt bad she has to work at such an awful restaurant. We sat in the bar area at a booth. The bartender was a younger women.

The receptionist when you walked in was VERY rude. While waiting for our table she was very rude and making unnecessary comments under her breath that I could hear! Need a friendlier person to greet people!

Don’t waste your time making reservations here. I made a reservation one month prior for 8 people at 5:30pm on a Saturday. At 6pm we still were waiting in a jam packed lobby with no tables even close to cashing out so opted to eat elsewhere.

I am a huge fan of the two Shinto Japanese Steakhouses and I’ve been going to both locations, respectively, since they first opened. Never disappointed. Always a great dining experience. But my most recent visit to the one in Westlake was…above & beyond and INCREDIBLE…and our memorable experience was made that way by our AMAZING server/bartender — BLAKE! Remember the name and ask for him if you sit in the bar area as we did on this visit. My wife and I know the menu by heart and we have a favorite booth, etc,…yet, this visit was far from routine, it was a true delight and joy thanks to the efforts, expertise and engaging hospitality and personality of Blake. Clearly, Blake is a pro’s pro and he sets the high mark standard there at this popular restaurant. Blake’s energy and desire to serve and create a wonderful dining experience is now officially legendary. Blake presented some great and unique suggestions that we actually hadn’t tried before and he literally RAN back and forth from our booth to the kitchen and bar and everywhere with a contagious gusto and 110% effort. After you order and receive your food and drink, he then proceeds to “anticipate” your every follow up need, desire and thought. You can’t teach that! His attention to detail…and I mean every specific detail, request and nuance…was flawless and superb. We all know how an attentive, nice server can make for a pleasant evening out…but, trust me, BLAKE took it to another stratospheric level. What a joy! So, the next time you dine at Shinto/Westlake, treat yourself to a superior, unforgettable experience with BLAKE as your dedicated host and server. Everything will be perfection and you’ll have a blast! Blake is Westlake Shinto’s resident employee “Rock Star!”

Disappointed as we love Shinto in Strongsville. Our server was awful (missed times, never refilled drinks, barely saw her) and we didn’t have the vibe when we went. Didn’t care about the liquor license being in the process of being renewed but made us not want to come back.
