Once upon a time long ago this was a vibrant colorful bustling ashram teaming with energy where you could go for kirtan, meditation, and a fantastic vegetarian meal. You could hear heartfelt stories of people's experience of transcendance and grace or sit quietly in a beautiful garden temple and meditate. There was even a cave open all day where you could chant. There were all-night chants, dancing saptas, ecstatic celebrations and feasts beyond imagination. It was a beautiful community center with heart and soul with an energy that was palpable. A truly amazing center that attracted and welcomed people from all walks of life. But that was long ago.
During corona I visited mentally and felt blessed ! I was meditating in my kutir , ganeshpuri , I saw we became two clouds like snow and soft were over the Oakland city . Than assumed the normal subtle physical body and entered the ashram . SGNMKJ
After exploring many spiritual paths and institutions, I found this is the one for me. I was deeply touched during the Shaktipaat intensive which was my very first experience here. I learn something new in each visit. The space has amazing energy. I always feel calm and rejuvenated after each visit. Their family satsangs are a great tool to kickstart the spiritual awareness for kids any age. Thank you Gurumayi!
The energy there was high and beautiful, the people most welcoming. Everything was run at a high standard. People cared for each other. These are serious devotees, substantive people, and everyone I met there was full of love and integrity.
This place is a urban treasure. People have been performing spiritual practices here for almost 50 years and you can feel it. The main hall is an amazing place to meditate. The temple nearby is incredibly tranquil even though it's 20 yards from San Pablo Avenue! The Amrit cafe has delicious chai and simple foods to nourish visitors. And don't miss the yearly Shaktipat Meditation Intensive in which Gurumayi Chidvilasananda, the head of a lineage of meditation masters, gives Shaktipat awakening to those who want to meditate deeply and walk a true path of liberation. This meditation tradition is authentic and guided by a true Master.
