I’m extremely disappointed and upset with the service we received from this vet. We took our English Bulldog because she had been sick for months and was being treated in Nuevo Laredo. However, her condition recently worsened—last night, she was unable to hold herself up. We took her to this clinic hoping to get clear answers, but instead of offering compassion or support, the vet immediately made us feel like it was our fault. He raised his voice at us, was incredibly rude, and showed absolutely no empathy. When we mentioned that we had taken her to a vet in Nuevo Laredo, he got angry—which would be understandable if he had handled it professionally—but instead of speaking to us with compassion or at the very least saying he would try his best to help our dog, he very rudely told us that she was going to die. He said we had two options: hospitalize her with them or put her down. He explained that keeping her overnight for testing would cost $1,300 but gave us no hope or reassurance—only a cold, “She’s not guaranteed to live.” Worst of all, he told us to just take her back to the other doctor and let them “deal with her.” His behavior was completely unprofessional, heartless, and unacceptable. WORST DOCTOR IN LAREDO!!!!!
I had called this so called vet hospital before going in and explained how my corgi kept shaking and was disoriented and was told she would be attended when I got there (10 min after I called). I got there and instead they had me fill all these forms and had me in the reception for about 15 min, mind you my dog was panting and acting weird (I'm guessing she had a seizure). I had to ask the receptionist if she knew more less how long it would take before someone could see her. The "vet" was there listening but didn't even acknowledge me or ask me for more info. 10 min later they weighted her and took her to the back. As soon as they took her I heard someone inside say "I don't know why she said it could be an emergency, the dog looks fine" while laughing. 5 min later they passed me to the room and they told me she was fine and had nothing basically implying I was being dramatic. The "vet" implied MULTIPLE TIMES if I gave her DRUGS? And that most likely she was like this because I "gave her pot brownies". He then proceeded to accuse me of HITTING MY DOG. Does anyone in their right mind think that if I "drugged" and abused my dog I would take them to the vet ? He then says I need to do "tests" and it would be $500 plus the visit fee. I'm confused why he would want to run test if he claims it's from DRUGS i allegedly gave her ?? And also why run test if he said she was fine ? I went across and they said she had neumonía and they gave her medicine and now she is fine. Make it make sense!
Extremely grateful for Dr. Santos and the amazing staff at South Tx Vet Hospital. Dr. Santos performed surgery on my 15 year old pup last year and thanks to his amazing work, my pup continues to thrive and just turned 16 years old. Most recently, Dr. Santos recommended surgery for one of my cats and I am thankful for the incredible work he did as my cat is now back home and doing great post-surgery. Patricia at the front is patient, understanding, and always takes the time to answer my questions or communicate my concerns to Dr. Santos when he is busy. Dr. Santos always takes his time to return my calls and provides great explanations on necessary procedures and the different treatment options available. Robert and the rest of the staff are also great and it makes me feel reassured seeing them treat my pets as if they were one of their own. I have been to several vets in Laredo and this is by far the best care I have been able to find for my fur babies. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Strongly recommend.
I've been taking my doggos to Dr. Santos for years! He tells it like it is, explains what's needed, and answers any questions as many times asked. I've never had an issue. He's straightforward, and I like that about him. He's taken amazing care of furbabies over the years. Prior to seeing Dr. Santos I attempted 3 other vets and with one experience in each of them, I had enough reason not to go back. I've taken him my doggos when injured/ill and for regular checkups. All times, he's been able to communicate well with me and I truly appreciate that. Ms. Patricia has always been so kind in helping me, too. Answering all my questions and being patient with me.
Dr. Santos is in my opinion the best Veterinarian in Laredo by far. You pets will always will be in good hands At South Texas Veterinary Hospitals. I have had multiple dogs and will always go with Dr. Santos as I have had bad experiences with other local vets.
